Full job description

NICEIC Qualified Supervisor – Electrical Testing & Compliance

Company: ECM Group
Location: Hertfordshire / London & Home Counties
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About ECM Group

ECM Group is a specialist MEP and technology contractor delivering high-quality electrical, mechanical, renewable energy and home automation installations across London and the Home Counties.

Working predominantly within the prime residential and commercial sectors, we pride ourselves on exceptional workmanship, technical expertise and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) to take responsibility for electrical testing, certification, technical compliance and quality assurance across our projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining ECM Group's electrical standards, ensuring all installations are tested, inspected and certified correctly in accordance with current regulations.

We are looking for someone who possesses excellent technical knowledge, understands the importance of robust processes and can confidently oversee electrical compliance across multiple projects.

This is a hands-on position combining site-based testing and inspection with technical supervision, certification management and support for our electrical installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Testing & Certification

  • Carry out electrical inspection, testing and certification across residential and commercial installations.
  • Complete Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with BS 7671 and applicable industry standards.
  • Review and verify test results, identifying defects and ensuring appropriate remedial actions are completed.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and organised testing and certification records.

NICEIC Qualified Supervisor Duties

  • Act as the company's NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, subject to scheme approval.
  • Maintain the company's compliance with NICEIC assessment and registration requirements.
  • Prepare for and participate in NICEIC annual assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to electricians and installation teams.
  • Review workmanship and installation standards through regular site inspections.
  • Ensure appropriate processes are followed for inspection, testing, certification and handover.

Quality Assurance & Processes

  • Develop and maintain robust electrical testing and quality control procedures.
  • Implement consistent processes for site inspections, testing records and certification.
  • Identify and address non-compliant installations before project completion.
  • Support project managers with technical queries and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant certification and documentation is completed promptly and correctly.
  • Assist in maintaining organised project records, including testing documents and O&M information.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid ECS Gold Card – Essential.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification or recognised equivalent – Essential.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification – Strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of BS 7671, electrical testing, inspection and certification.
  • Previous experience in electrical testing and compliance, preferably within a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience working with NICEIC requirements and assessment processes.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical installation standards and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Competent with digital certification software, reporting and record management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, methodical and genuinely takes pride in the quality of their work.

The ideal individual will be:

  • Confident in their technical knowledge and ability to make informed decisions.
  • Highly organised, with a strong understanding of processes and documentation.
  • Proactive in identifying issues rather than allowing them to develop.
  • Capable of supporting and guiding electricians to maintain consistent standards.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of testing, certification and compliance.
  • Professional and well-presented when dealing with clients, contractors and colleagues.
  • Motivated to improve the systems and procedures within a growing business.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of electrical compliance within an established and growing MEP contractor.
  • Exposure to prestigious residential and commercial projects.
  • Supportive management team and opportunities for professional progression.
  • Additional training and development where appropriate.
  • Company vehicle or travel arrangements to be discussed.

Our Expectations

At ECM Group, we consider electrical compliance, workmanship and accountability fundamental to our business.

We require an individual who can take genuine ownership of our testing and certification procedures, ensure documentation is completed without unnecessary delays and maintain consistently high standards across our projects.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced electrician or electrical tester who wants to take the next step into a technically responsible, supervisory position within a growing business.
