Full job description

Creative Spaces Design Ltd is a Cardiff-based design and build agency specialising in high-impact environments that tell a brand’s story through space. The team combines thoughtful design with expert craftsmanship to deliver exhibition stands, commercial interiors, retail spaces and experiential environments that engage audiences and elevate brand presence.

Creative Spaces has grown into an award-winning studio with a clear focus on quality & sustainability — challenging traditional build methods by adopting circular design principles that reduce waste and maximise value at every stage of a project’s lifecycle.

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive and versatile individual to join our dynamic team. This dual focus, multifaceted position focuses primarily on the on site installation and dismantling of exhibition stands across the UK & Europe. When not travelling for installations, you will play a vital role at our production facility in Cardiff, alternating between the preparation and finishing of custom exhibition graphics and components & handling warehouse operations and logistics. This role requires flexibility, practical competence and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

1. Stand Building & On-Site Installations (Primary Focus)

  • Complete the full installation, setup and dismantle process of exhibition stands at various prominent venues across the UK and Europe.
  • Safely and efficiently load, transport and unload build materials, structural components, graphics and furniture to and from event locations.
  • Assemble and install complex exhibition structures, custom fabrics, rigid graphics and promotional furniture precisely according to provided design drawings.
  • Maintain an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship, structural integrity and attention to detail throughout all build and finishing processes.
  • Act professionally on-site at all times, serving as a positive representative of the company in front of clients, venue staff and contractors.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with senior installation team members to ensure strict venue deadlines and client expectations are met.

2. Production Assistance (Workshop-Based)

  • Assist in the preparation and fabrication of modular & bespoke stand elements using basic woodwork, cutting and assembly skills.
  • Conduct meticulous quality assurance checks on all printed, finished and fabricated materials prior to dispatch.
  • Carefully pack finished items to avoid transit damage and ensure they are ready for delivery or immediate on-site deployment.
  • Support general maintenance and cleaning of production equipment, tools and work environments.

3. Warehouse Assistance & Logistics

  • Accurately pick, verify and pack components and tools required for specific projects to ensure install teams are fully equipped before site departure.
  • Keep warehouse logistics areas organised, clean and meticulously aligned with company safety regulations.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce the company's health and safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Experience: Previous background in the exhibitions sector, shop-fitting, large-format print or sign making environments is required.
  • Practical Capability: Strong hands on mechanical aptitude, competence using hand/power tools and an active eagerness to master new technical skills.
  • Core Attributes: Organisational skills, an exceptional eye for detail and the capability to work independently or seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Driving Licence: A full, valid manual UK driving licence is strictly essential for transporting equipment and vehicles to venues with experience driving long wheel base vans and Luton's.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Total availability and scheduling flexibility are required due to the dynamic and non-traditional working hours fundamental to the exhibition and events industry. Working hours vary week to week and weekend work will be necessary. Advance notice of schedules is typically provided 2 or more weeks beforehand.

Working Schedule & Compensation

  • Weekly Split: Highly variable depending on seasonal demand and active event schedules. An average week involves approximately 2 days of travel/on site installation and 3 days stationed at the Cardiff (South Wales) production facility. However, a working week can fluctuate between 5 days on site or 5 days purely in the workshop/warehouse.
  • Financial Growth: Base wage will scale dynamically in accordance with your growing experience level and skill progression. Extensive and regular overtime opportunities are available throughout the year, enabling overall potential annual earnings to reach £30,000 - £32,000 (Inclusive of overtime).
  • Hours & Setting: Shift structures include flexitime, standard Monday through Friday operations, required weekend availability and overtime hours. This role is strictly in person, there is no option for remote or hybrid work, it is essential that you are within commutable distance to our production facility based in Cardiff CF11 (South Wales).

  • Professional Development: Fully funded, structured training pathways designed to help advance your career, master specialised trade skills (I.e vinyl wrapping and application) and achieve your professional goals.
  • Paid Leave & Holidays: An enhanced annual holiday allowance scheme.
  • Pension Plan: Automatic enrolment into the company pension scheme after 3 months of continuous employment.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): Comprehensive, confidential external support services for any life challenges you may face, including mental health support, financial guidance, legal and mortgage advice (Case UK).
  • Company Culture & Perks: Fully catered, company wide social events hosted twice a year; access to Case UK and guaranteed free on site parking at our production facility.
