Full job description

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Clinical Innovation Lead to join the UK Public Sector Healthcare Team, focused on shaping and winning longer-term strategic pursuits across the NHS and wider UK health system. This role sits at the intersection of clinical domain expertise and cloud technology, requiring the ability to engage credibly with senior clinical and digital leaders (CIOs, CMIOs, CCIOs) to identify opportunities where AWS can deliver measurable patient outcomes. The successful candidate will own a portfolio of complex, multi-year pursuits — from early-stage discovery through to commercial close — working closely with partners, solution architects, and specialist teams to develop compelling business cases, navigate NHS procurement frameworks, and convert pipeline into revenue. This is a role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can build conviction around emerging opportunities (e.g. AI-enabled clinical pathways, genomics, population health), and has the strategic patience to nurture deals over 12-18+ month cycles while maintaining commercial rigor and pipeline discipline.

Key job responsibilities
1/ Own and develop a portfolio of strategic pursuits — identify, shape, and progress complex, longer-cycle opportunities (12-18+ months) across NHS national bodies, Integrated Care Systems, and specialist providers
2/ Build senior clinical and digital relationships — establish trusted advisor status with CIOs, CMIOs, CCIOs, and transformation leads across target accounts, positioning AWS as the platform of choice for clinical innovation
3/ Develop compelling business cases — translating clinical challenges into cloud-enabled solutions with quantifiable outcomes (e.g. patient throughput, waiting list reduction, diagnostic accuracy), working with solution architects and healthcare specialists
4/ Drive partner-led engagement — collaborate with specialist NHS partners to co-develop propositions
5/ Shape emerging clinical use cases — act as an internal evangelist for nascent opportunity areas such as agentic AI for clinical triage, genomics, population health analytics, and surgical efficiency — connecting AWS service roadmaps to real-world clinical need
6/ Collaborate cross-functionally — work closely with PSMs, SAs, ProServe, WWPS partner teams, and marketing to orchestrate pursuit teams and ensure coordinated engagement across accounts
7/ Contribute to strategic planning — feed market intelligence, competitive insight, and pipeline signals into the UKPS Healthcare 5-year strategy

A day in the life
This isn't a typical account manager role. You're not managing steady-state accounts or running transactional sales cycles. You're operating at the frontier of healthcare and technology — shaping opportunities that don't yet exist in a market that's rewriting its rules in real time. You need clinical credibility to earn the trust of Chief Clinical Information Officers, commercial instinct to build business cases that survive NHS scrutiny, and strategic patience to nurture pursuits over 12-18 months while competitors are sprinting for quick wins. The role demands equal fluency in a ministerial briefing room and a technical architecture review. And because the NHS is a single interconnected system, every relationship you build and every POC you land has the potential to scale nationally.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions
  • Clinically trained and experience working in a healthcare environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of cloud computing, IT infrastructure, and different programming languages
