Full job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly, supportive team at Eastfield House Surgery. The role is interesting and challenging, with great deal of job satisfaction. We are expanding our existing team due to the continuing population growth within our practice boundary.

You will working alongside our teams of GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Paramedics and Administrative Staff to provide our patients with the very best care.

The hours are part-time; however, we do require flexibility to work additional hours for holiday or sickness cover when required and occasional Saturdays for our extended hours service which includes Covid and Flu vaccinations.

Applicants should have:

  • A friendly and approachable manner, with confident communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure and to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Good administrative, IT and keyboard skills are essential – EMIS and other medical IT systems training will be provided
  • A proven track record in confidentiality, flexibility, and reliability
  • A willingness to adapt to the changing working practices of a busy medical environment
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage, but not essential as full training can be provided to the right candidate.

Job Duties:

  • Greeting and welcoming visitors
  • Working with the Triaging GP to allocate appointments to patients via our online system
  • Managing correspondence
  • Carrying out requests from management as needed
  • Answering phone calls and transferring them as necessary

Financial Duties:

  • Processing payments

Weekly hours: We operate two daily shifts. Your hours will be advised but could include a mix of morning and afternoon shifts during the working week. Our morning shift is 8am-1pm and the afternoon shift is 1pm to 6.30pm.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 35.0 per week
