Full job description

We are seeking a skilled and friendly GP Receptionist / Administrator to join our amazing team. The ideal candidate will provide efficient administrative support while delivering a professional, welcoming and high-quality service to patients and visitors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly and helpful manner.
  • Schedule and manage appointments accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain patient records and update information as required.
  • Answer telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Process payments and assist with insurance claims and related administration.
  • Prepare and send referrals to hospitals, specialists and other healthcare providers as required.
  • Receive, read and appropriately action clinical and administrative correspondence, including letters and reports, in line with practice procedures.
  • Upload and accurately file correspondence and documentation to patient records.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information in accordance with practice policies and data protection requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
  • Support the wider practice team with general administrative duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous GP reception or medical administration experience is essential.
  • Experience of processing referrals and handling clinical correspondence is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office software.
  • A professional, friendly and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • EMIS Web and Docman knowledge is desirable.
