- Support individuals to develop and maintain daily living skills, including budgeting, meal preparation, managing appointments, and maintaining their tenancy.
- Encourage and enable service users to participate in education, employment, volunteering, and community-based activities.
- Build positive therapeutic relationships that foster confidence, self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support individuals to access healthcare services, attend appointments, and engage with relevant professionals involved in their care.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, carers, and external agencies to deliver effective support in line with individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Promote safeguarding, dignity, choice, and the rights of service users at all times.
- Accurately maintain support records, daily progress notes, incident reports, and other documentation in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support individuals in managing their mental health, recognising changes in presentation, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience supporting people with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, autism, or other complex needs.
- A genuine commitment to supporting adults with mental health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and professional relationships.
- Understanding of person-centred support and recovery-focused approaches.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including record keeping.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and professional boundaries.
- Flexibility to work a rota that may include long days, twilight shifts, waking nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Desirable
- Experience working within supported living, residential care, community support, healthcare, or social care settings.
- Knowledge of mental health recovery principles and positive risk management.
- Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards one.
