Electrical Engineering Manager

£55,000 – £65,000 DOE

Silverwood Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to join their team in the Newtownards area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take ownership of electrical engineering, maintenance and continuous improvement within a busy food manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians while ensuring high levels of equipment reliability, production uptime and maintenance performance.

The Role

As Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, managing and developing a team of 6 engineers and technicians.
  • Driving equipment reliability and uptime across production lines.
  • Managing key engineering KPIs, including OEE, MTTR and downtime reduction.
  • Developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Driving continuous improvement across plant performance, energy usage and maintenance efficiency.
  • Leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with electrical safety, food safety and company standards.
  • Managing critical spare parts, including ordering and supplier price negotiations.
  • Tracking utility costs including electricity, gas and diesel.
  • Supporting the company's wider sustainability programme.
  • Working closely with Production, Quality, Operations and other departments to achieve business objectives.

CAPEX & Continuous Improvement

You will also play a key role in capital investment projects, including:

  • Identifying and scoping new machinery and equipment upgrade projects.
  • Developing investment cases and supporting cost-benefit and payback calculations.
  • Managing projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required performance standards.
  • Tracking ROI and payback following installation.

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with strong electrical engineering and maintenance knowledge, together with proven leadership and problem-solving ability.

You will be a hands-on and commercially aware manager who can lead a team, improve engineering performance and work effectively across a fast-paced production environment.

Experience within food manufacturing or a similar high-volume manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, typically starting at 8.00am, with flexibility required to support a 24/7 production environment. The position also involves occasional early starts, late finishes, weekend work and participation in an on-call rota.
