  • Care – We prioritise safety, wellbeing, and genuine support
  • Connection – We build strong, meaningful relationships
  • Trust – We act with integrity and consistency
  • Courage – We do what is right, even when it is difficult
  • Ambition – We believe in high expectations for every learner
  • Excellence – We continually strive to improve and deliver the best

These values are not just words—they are lived through daily interactions, shaping the culture our students and staff experience.

Purpose of the Role

This is a role for an English Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference.

You will deliver high-quality English teaching across KS3–KS4, supporting students to re-engage with education, develop confidence, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

You will combine strong classroom practice, clear routines, and relational approaches to create an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and capable of success.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning (Quality of Education – Implementation)

  • Deliver high-quality, well-structured English lessons that engage, challenge, and support pupils to make sustained progress.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH, ensuring all learners can access and succeed in the curriculum.
  • Use clear explanations, modelling, and guided practice to build knowledge, skills, and confidence over time.
  • Promote reading, writing, and oracy, fostering a love of English and improving literacy outcomes.

Curriculum Delivery (Intent → Implementation → Impact)

  • Implement the English curriculum effectively, ensuring lessons are sequenced and aligned to support progression across KS3–KS4.
  • Support pupils to develop functional and academic literacy, enabling them to access wider learning and life opportunities.

Assessment & Progress (Impact)

  • Use formative and summative assessment to check understanding and identify gaps.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback that supports pupils to improve.
  • Adapt teaching in response to assessment to accelerate progress and support GCSE readiness.

Classroom Environment & Behaviour (Behaviour & Attitudes)

  • Establish consistent routines and high expectations that create a calm, purposeful learning environment.
  • Use relational and trauma-informed approaches to support engagement and reduce barriers to learning.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships that enable pupils to feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.

Personal Development

  • Support pupils’ confidence, communication, and resilience through teaching and daily interactions.
  • Contribute to enrichment, pastoral support, and wider opportunities that promote independence and personal growth.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including SENDCo and pastoral teams, to support pupil outcomes.
  • Contribute positively to the school community and uphold Infinite Schools’ values in all interactions.
  • Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Builds strong, authentic relationships with young people
  • Has high expectations and believes every student can succeed
  • Delivers clear, engaging, and adaptive teaching
  • Is resilient, reflective, and committed to continual improvement
  • Aligns with our values and contributes positively to our culture

Required Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in English (or related subject) and QTS/QTLS
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (GCSE)
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching, assessment, and differentiation
  • Ability to engage and motivate students, including those with SEND/SEMH needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working in alternative provision or specialist settings
  • Experience supporting literacy development or interventions
  • A passion for inclusive, child-centred education

Performance Expectations

  • Deliver consistently high-quality teaching that enables pupils to know more and remember more
  • Secure positive progress and outcomes for all learners
  • Create a classroom culture rooted in Care, Connection, and Trust
  • Demonstrate Ambition and Excellence through professional practice
  • Show Courage in addressing challenges and supporting pupils effectively

Why Work at Infinite Schools?
