About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee and coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of a diverse range of events at our large-scale venue in Swindon. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and growing venue that hosts a variety of high-profile events, including live music performances, comedy shows, boxing matches, corporate functions, and much more.
As a General Manager, you will work closely with our production, operations, and sales teams to ensure smooth operations and provide a seamless guest experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing events from concept to completion, with the ability to handle the logistical challenges that come with hosting large-scale, high-energy events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Planning & Coordination:
Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of events, ensuring all event details are thoroughly organized and aligned with the client’s vision.
- Venue Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the venue, ensuring that the space is optimized for each event and fully equipped to meet specific event requirements.
- Team Leadership:
Manage and coordinate event staff, including ushers, technical support, security, catering teams, and any contractors, ensuring everyone is aligned with the event's objectives.
- Vendor Relations:
Negotiate and liaise with external vendors (AV suppliers, catering, performers, etc.) to ensure that all services are delivered to the highest standards.
- Budget & Cost Control:
Oversee event budgets, ensuring all costs are kept within agreed limits while still delivering a premium experience for attendees.
- Customer & Client Liaison:
Be the point of contact for clients and performers, providing exceptional customer service and addressing any last-minute changes or concerns.
- Logistics & Scheduling:
Develop event timelines, manage technical and production schedules, and coordinate transportation and logistics for talent, equipment, and staff.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all events are compliant with health and safety regulations, including crowd control, emergency planning, and venue security.
- Post-Event Evaluation:
Conduct debriefs after each event, gathering feedback from clients, staff, and attendees to identify areas for improvement and enhance future events.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in event management, preferably within the entertainment or live events sector. Experience working in large-scale venues is a significant advantage.
- Education:
A degree in Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience is highly valued.
- Strong Organizational Skills:
Excellent time management and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and thrive under pressure.
- Leadership & Communication:
Strong team management and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to lead by example and maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-pressure situations.
- Problem-Solving:
Ability to think on your feet and resolve issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to the event.
- Technical Understanding:
Basic knowledge of event technology (lighting, sound, AV equipment) and staging is beneficial, but training can be provided.
- Creativity & Innovation:
A creative mindset with the ability to propose and implement innovative ideas that enhance the attendee experience.
- Flexibility:
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally holidays, depending on the event schedule.
Why Join Us?
- Diverse & Exciting Events:
Work in a vibrant venue that hosts a wide range of events, from high-profile boxing matches to intimate comedy shows, giving you the opportunity to manage exciting and varied experiences.
