How this vacancy has arisen

Our current Head of Marketing is planning to retire later this Summer, so we are looking for a successor to join ideally around July or August.

What hours would you be working?

35 hours per week, across Monday to Friday ( excluding breaks). Default hours are 9-5 but we are flexible. There would be some requirement to work outside of these hours, for example to gain an in-depth understanding of the business or attend pre opening events, company conferences and site based meetings.

Place of Work

Option to work up to 2 days a week from home, excluding Wednesdays. Full home working set up supplied.

The role also involves regular attendance at our pubs, bars and hotels.

Free carparking is available at the Head Office Site.

Based in Media City, our Marketing department is a small team - all of whom enjoy the option of hybrid working. They cover all aspects of marketing in house - including digital and social media. Less than 5 minutes walk from the tram stop, we are also about 10 minutes walk from the quayside which is home to the Lowry Centre, the BBC and a ton of bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Our open office also has a modern kitchen and break area and we even have a bar on site ( where we hold briefings, tastings, training and some social events). As well as working closely with Operations and suppliers, the team so also spend a lot of time within our pubs, ensuring that our people and premises are equipped with everything they need to actively promote and support what we offer.

What you’ll be doing as Head of Marketing

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will support and lead a team of 4 people - each with their own specialist areas of responsibilities within marketing,

This is a hands-on role whereby you and your team would provide marketing and commercial support across managed house operations, tenancies and wholesale, covering the following topics:

  • Responsible for Brand Management including the creation of plans for our beer portfolio; POS materials and liaison with 3rd party drinks suppliers in order to agree terms.
  • Creation and implementation of Retail Marketing Strategy and Plans for both managed and tenanted sites.
  • Propose, create and evaluate Business Development Solutions including discounting, entertainment and major events.
  • Coordinate Pricing for both wet and dry products across the business.
  • Responsible for the Marketing Strategy and execution of associated plans - including new and re-openings.
  • Ensure that Marketing Standards are upheld across the business.
  • Ensure that the Company operates the appropriate and most effective Digital Marketing Strategy which is also aligned to our Vision, Mission and Values,
  • Deliver a Company PR strategy which ensures maximum transparency on customer feedback whilst enhancing our image and reputation.

Skills & Experience

  • We are looking for an experienced marketeer, adept in all aspects of the role.
  • Ideally you'll have worked in a multi site hospitality business before.
  • You’ll have great commercial awareness with a strong understanding of supplier agreements, retros and pricing and their impact on sales and profit.
  • You'll have strong computer literacy skills and be open to exploring new tools.
  • You're exceptional when it comes to writing and communicating in general.
  • You'd have the ability to build professional rapport with all stakeholders, showing a pro-active attitude at all times.
  • You'd be super organised and have high attention to detail.
  • You're a team player and perform your role with a customer focussed outlook, ensuring (through coaching and support) that your team are proficient and confident in their roles too .
