Production Assistant (Part-Time)
Job Type: Part-time, 3-day week, Factory Based (Rushden), Permanent
Rate: c.£12 per hour (DOE)
UK Inspection Systems is an independent employee-owned Company that has been delivering a comprehensive range of goods and services into the food industry since 2009. Our expertise encompasses most makes of in-line inspection equipment.
In 2018 we added manufacturing to our product portfolio, manufacturing our own brand Aegis, Fortis and Parvis foreign body detection and check weighing equipment at our factory in Rushden.
We now deliver sales and service support to many of the UK Food Industry’s leading brands.
We're seeking a meticulous and adaptable Production Assistant to help streamline our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be a vital team player, capable of ensuring efficient production operations. This role demands attention to detail and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and facilitating smooth workflow. As a Production Assistant, you will support day-to-day operations, adhere to safety standards, and contribute to the success of our products.
The successful candidate will be required to represent UK Inspection Systems in the best possible way, through building strong and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering service excellence with timely and efficient actions and communication.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
· General assistance in the production process to meet with the schedule of orders to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
· Control inventory activity (goods in/out)
· Raising stock re-ordering to avoid shortages.
· Pick parts for the processing of manufacturing work orders.
· Packaging spare parts orders (goods out)
· Booking couriers (shipping)
· Work with quality control to maintain the quality standards.
· Review manufacturing orders and accordingly establish priorities and schedules.
· Oversee material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations.
· Coordinate with the Production Controller for production planning issues.
· Housekeeping (maintaining a tidy, clean and safe work environment).
· Loading/Unloading/Re-locating machinery (forklift certification required).
Competencies:
· Previous skills and experience working in a manufacturing/production background.
· Experience working with a team on a daily basis to ensure a smooth-running operation.
- Professional and approachable manner.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
· IT literate with knowledge of MRP and Microsoft Office applications.
· Self-motivated with strong work ethic and organisational skills.
· Team player with initiative and ability to coordinate and multitask.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical workload.
Education/Qualification:
The successful candidate must have:
· GCSE in both English and Maths (grades A-C)
· Valid Counter Balance Forklift certification
Desirable:
· Certificate of Higher Education in Engineering/Manufacturing/Production will be an advantage
Experience:
· 2+ years in a previous or similar role
Desirable:
- Working within an engineering production factory
