Full job description

We are a family run pub in Selsey, West Sussex looking for an experienced General Manager to join our team and continue our growth journey. My wife and I have run this business for the last 8 years but we are now looking for additional support and restructuring as the business grows. We are seasonally busy pub & restaurant with 80 covers inside and 400 in our very large garden. We have inside and outside stages where we put great emphasis on live music & entertainment from bands to dance music festivals all year round.

General Manager duties will include:

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the pub operations, including Bar, Restaurant and Kitchen.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing exceptional service and resolving any guest issues or concerns.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff members to ensure they are performing their duties effectively.

- Plan & manage events throughout the year
- Monitor and control expenses to meet budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees by enforcing policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and adherence to brand standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications Required:

- Previous experience in a leadership role within the hospitality industry, preferably as an Assistant Manager or similar position.
- Strong knowledge of banquet, bartending, catering, food production, pub operations, event management and coffee service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests, employees, and vendors.
- Proven ability to lead a team and motivate staff members to achieve goals.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in computer systems and software used in hotel operations.
