Junior Legal Assistant — Mandarin Speaking

Location: Hybrid remote in London E14, London
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Visa Sponsorship: Not available. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

About the Role

This role is suitable for a junior legal professional who is looking to develop their experience in commercial contracts, compliance, dispute support and corporate administration within an international business environment.

The successful candidate will provide legal and administrative support across a range of business matters, including contract review, legal research, compliance documentation, dispute coordination and company secretarial work.

Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is required, as the role involves regular communication with Chinese-speaking stakeholders and review of Chinese-language legal or business documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and revise a range of commercial contracts and legal documents, mainly including non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, quotations, telecommunication service contracts and other business-related agreements.
  • Assist with litigation and arbitration matters, including coordinating with external law firms on cross-border debt recovery cases, tracking case progress, preparing internal updates and reporting key developments to senior legal management.
  • Provide support on dispute resolution matters, including reviewing case feedback, identifying legal and operational risks, and assisting with improvements to internal policies and procedures.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis, and provide legal support to business departments, particularly in relation to product, commercial and compliance matters.
  • Participate in compliance training for business departments and overseas subsidiaries, including preparing compliance-related articles, training materials and contract guidance.
  • Review and revise internal policies for business departments in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and internal compliance requirements.
  • Assist with company secretarial matters for overseas subsidiaries, including director renewals, director changes, bank authority changes and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Support general legal, compliance and administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Law or a related discipline.
  • Fluent Mandarin Chinese and English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong drafting, reviewing and proofreading skills.
  • Good understanding of commercial contracts and corporate legal processes.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams and external advisers.
  • Able to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, Legal Executive, Compliance Assistant or Company Secretarial Assistant is preferred.
  • Legal qualification, lawyer certificate, LPC, SQE background, Chinese legal professional qualification or overseas legal qualification is highly desirable.
