About Freshwave

We deliver connectivity where it matters most-across some of the UK’s largest and most complex environments. With over 2,000 connected buildings and 800+ outdoor networks, we play a critical role in enabling seamless mobile coverage in cities, transport hubs and high-demand locations.

Backed by DigitalBridge, we combine telecoms expertise with commercial real estate insight to deliver long-term infrastructure solutions—and we’re proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to start your career in telecoms and RF design.

As a Design Technician, you’ll provide operational and technical support to our Design Engineers - contributing to everything from early-stage research through to site surveys, data collection, and design documentation. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to both office-based analysis and on-site delivery, building your technical capability with full training and support.

What You’ll Be Doing

Desktop Research & Design Support

  • Support RF design activities through structured desk-based research
  • Use industry tools (e.g. Ranplan, iBwave) to assist with basic modelling and predictions
  • Assist with RF data collection and analysis tools (e.g. TEMS) for validation activities
  • Apply fundamental RF concepts (e.g. propagation, coverage) in day-to-day tasks

Site Surveys & Data Collection

  • Support site visits alongside Design Engineers to capture key design data
  • Take accurate measurements, photographs, and survey records
  • Assist in collecting signal strength data and other technical inputs
  • Use survey equipment in line with guidance and best practice
  • Support validation and cable routing surveys

Documentation & Reporting

  • Organise and maintain project documentation (photos, reports, equipment lists)
  • Support the preparation of RF design outputs under supervision

What We’re Looking For

This is an entry-level role and training and guidance will be given if you do not have all the experience and skills listed here.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Engineering, Telecoms, Electronics, Physics, construction or field-based roles) or hands-on experience
  • Exposure to site-based or technical environments
  • Basic understanding of mobile networks (2G–5G) and RF principles
  • Awareness of RF tools (e.g. iBwave, Ranplan, TEMS) or strong interest in learning
  • Familiarity with survey methods, mapping, or technical data capture or strong interest in learning
  • Competent in MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • CAD or drawing mark-up experience (desirable)

Skills & Attributes

  • Comfortable working on-site (indoors and outdoors)
  • Strong attention to detail when capturing and recording data
  • Well organised with the ability to manage information and equipment
  • Confident using tools and technology
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to develop
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Why Join Freshwave

This is an opportunity to build a strong foundation in telecoms and RF design while working on some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile connectivity projects. With exposure to real-world challenges, varied project environments, and collaborative working across industry partners, this role offers a unique platform to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact in a fast-evolving sector.
