Role Overview

Develops and delivers scientifically accurate content across a range of projects. Continues to develop writing skills, maintains TA knowledge, participates fully in client meetings and liaises with KOLs with senior support.

Responsibilities

Development & delivery of high-quality content

  • Develop and deliver scientifically accurate content across a range of projects.
  • Ensure consistent style across multiple projects for a single client (input into style guides).
  • Take responsibility for quality of own work before review.

Knowledge of therapy areas

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant therapy areas — products, competitors, key trial data, terminology.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of TA, market, audiences and key messages; input into strategic communications plans (with manager guidance).
  • Stay current on industry practices and regulatory developments affecting writing.

Working with internal teams, clients and KOLs

  • Participate fully in client meetings to discuss scientific and editorial aspects.
  • Liaise with and brief KOLs as required, with senior support.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients and KOLs on specified projects.
  • Collaborate with the Client Partnerships team to align scientific content to the account strategy.

Interpretation & incorporation of amendments

  • Accurately interpret and incorporate review comments.

Communication & proactivity

  • Manage own workload proactively; communicate clearly with internal and client teams.
  • Brief, review and feed back on freelance writers; integrate freelancers into account teams.

Adherence to SOPs, laws & guidelines

  • Work in alignment with agency/client processes for legal/regulatory compliance; manage upload and referencing for review.
  • Adhere to compliance laws, guidelines and agency/client SOPs.
  • Following training, work in alignment with processes (agency and/or client) for legal/regulatory compliance (ABPI, EFPIA, FDA, PAAB, IMC codes); upload and reference items for review.

Congress / meeting support

  • Attend congresses, advisory boards, or client meetings to provide writing or client support; debrief team afterwards.

Business development

  • Work with manager on pitches and proposals — unmet needs research, ideas and recommendations.
  • Propose new ideas for organic growth.

Financial awareness

  • Full understanding of project budgets; collaborate with team to ensure efficient working.
  • Complete timesheets daily.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree level or higher in a biomedical science.
  • 1–2 years’ med comms agency experience with strong evidence of teamwork.
  • Desirable: PhD, MD, PharmD.

Core Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail; good grammar and syntax.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; some understanding of commercial drivers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; works well in a team under pressure.
  • Excellent use of MS PowerPoint and Word.
  • Solid understanding of drug development and EU/US regulations.
  • Top-quality scientific writing; adapts content/style for different audiences.
  • Conducts thorough literature searches and appraises results.

  • Consistently delivers high-quality projects on time and to budget.
  • Adheres to compliance laws, guidelines and SOPs.
  • Drives clear, proactive communication across the account team.
  • Liaises confidently with KOLs and clients on specified projects.
  • Achieves billability target of 80% live/active projects.
