Baltic Apprenticeships are working with Waste Experts, a company at the forefront of innovation in the waste management industry, delivering sustainable solutions that turn waste into opportunities for a greener, cleaner future. Waste Experts combines environmental stewardship, cutting-edge technology, and forward-thinking strategies to make a tangible impact on the environment and the communities they serve.

The Sustainability Apprentice will complete a Level 4 Sustainability Apprenticeship while gaining hands-on experience across the Waste Experts business. The role provides the opportunity to contribute to meaningful sustainability initiatives, support environmental compliance, and help develop innovative solutions that reduce waste, lower environmental impact, and create value for clients.

A Typical Day in the Job:
Support the development and delivery of the company’s Environmental strategy, including training and sharing information to drive commercial opportunities.

Collect and manage data from stakeholders to create compliance assessments for the business, covering AATF, and Producer Compliance.

Assist with implementing climate mitigation measures to reduce environmental impact across the business.

Support the Environmental team with waste collections, advise and support with environmental compliance

Help with training, both in-person and via the E-Learning platform.

Support the Head of Environmental Services with environmental compliance, including supply chain queries, HWCN, VDU assessments, and managing accreditations such as Ecovadis, ISO14001, BCorp, and ESOS.

Assist with operational compliance tasks, including permit bookings, emission testing, waste classification in Waste Logics, and managing SSV initiatives, volunteering opportunities, and tracking participation.

Work with all teams so support customers with queries, supplier and customer onboarding, reporting and auditing

Support 'people' strategies and initiatives to improve well being.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:
Salary: £17,550 – £18,720 per annum

Ages 16–18:Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours/week)

Over 18: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours/week)

Holiday Entitlement: 20 days per year, plus bank holidays. Your entitlement increases by 1 day per year after 2 years of continuous service.

Equipment Provided: All tools and equipment needed for your role will be supplied.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
Enthusiastic and passionate about sustainability and making a real difference.

An interest in administration and supporting day-to-day business operations.

An understanding of how businesses work and an eagerness to learn about internal processes and procedures.

A curiosity about compliance, governance, and the legal side of how organisations operate

A people-focused mindset, with an appreciation for social value, wellbeing, and creating positive working relationships within a team.

Engaging and confident when presenting initiatives to the wider team.

Data-driven, using insights from regulations and impact data to inform decisions.

Confident in communication, able to clearly share ideas and collaborate effectively.

Any experience in a customer-facing role is a plus!

Minimum grading requirements in Math and English of a 4/C or above
