  • Salary: £12.71 per hour
  • Working Hours: Part-time, 16 hours.
  • Days of Work: Tuesday & Saturday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Forest Ranger to join our team at Strathyre. Situated at the gateway to the Highlands and surrounded by forests, lochs, and mountains, Strathyre captures the true essence of Scotland. Some cabins offer enchanting views of Loch Lubnaig, while others are tucked away in peaceful grassy forest glades, a perfect setting for a forest escape.

About the Forest Ranger Role:
Our Forest Rangers are the heart and soul of the woodland experience. They don’t just work in nature - they interpret it, protect it, and share its wonder with every guest who walks beneath the trees. From uncovering hidden wildlife to sparking curiosity in young explorers, our Rangers transform a simple forest stay into something truly unforgettable.

Open all year round, as our Forest Ranger you will work within the Forest Retreat team and report to the Forest Retreat Manager. Your aim is to inspire our guests to experience, enjoy and respect our British forests by championing our ethical and ecological values, ensuring every guest experiences that special Forest Feeling from the moment they arrive.

You will deliver exceptional customer service in line with our brand standards, helping guests deepen their connection with nature during their stay.

Forest Ranger Responsibilities:

  • ➡️ Deliver a varied programme of guided and self-led events for children, adults and families, inspired by the forest environment.
  • ➡️ Create safe, enjoyable routes for activities and continually monitor them for any issues.
  • ➡️ Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners including Forestry England, Forestry and Land Scotland, Natural Resources Wales, Woodland Trust, National Park Authorities, and local businesses, charities and trusts.
  • ➡️ Develop team knowledge and promote environmental awareness across the location.
  • ➡️ Encourage safe enjoyment of wildlife and habitats (e.g., dogs on leads, protecting ground-nesting birds, respecting fungi and plant life).
  • ➡️ Carry out minor pruning and vegetation control, liaising with the Operations Manager to ensure seasonal grounds maintenance supports local flora and fauna.
  • ➡️ Confidently lead groups and deliver engaging talks that inspire guests of all ages.

What Makes Working as a Forest Ranger Here Special?
Here’s what one of our Forest Rangers says about working with Forest Holidays:

Helping people connect with nature, discover wildlife, and see the forest in a new way is incredibly rewarding, and being part of a team that truly values the environment makes it even better."
