Role Overview:

The Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, national, and international regulations. The Health Safety & Environmental Officer works closely with management and staff to identify potential Safety & Environmental hazards, assess risks, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local construction health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective action recommendations.
  • Provide ongoing health and safety training and inductions for site personnel and contractors.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct safety drills.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation for audits and compliance checks.
  • Chair regular H&S meetings with the operational teams
  • Report safety performance and risk findings to senior management regularly.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH Construction, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in a construction site safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction site hazards, risk assessments, and safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and observation skills.
  • Ability to influence and educate workers to maintain safe practices.
  • Proficient in safety reporting and documentation systems
