This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's lives while working in a supportive environment. Prior experience in assisted living, patient care, or caregiving is advantageous, particularly within nursing home, dementia, or senior care settings. The position involves assisting with boarding and alighting from vehicles, monitoring behaviour, and providing basic support as needed. All roles are paid positions.

  • Monitor behaviour during transit and intervene appropriately to maintain a safe environment
  • Provide basic first aid if necessary and respond to emergencies in accordance with training
  • Support with heavy lifting of mobility aids or equipment when required
  • Ensure the vehicle remains clean and organised throughout the journey
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, school staff, and parents regarding student needs or concerns
  • Assist with meal preparation or medication administration for students with specific health requirements (if applicable)
  • Support behaviour management strategies to promote positive conduct during transit

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable:

  • PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate

Applicants without these qualifications are still encouraged to apply, as training can be provided where necessary to meet Merton Council requirements.

This role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils during their journey. The ideal candidate will be organised, attentive to detail, and capable of managing behaviour effectively in a caring manner.
