Estate Administration Manager

Full‑time | Permanent | Maidenhead (Hybrid, 3 days office) | £50,000 - £75,000 per annum

Join Dignity’s mission to transform the probate experience

Dignity Legal Services is building one of the UK’s most modern, compassionate and efficient probate operations. Over the last year, we’ve grown from a team of 2 to 32 and we’re only just getting started.

We’re creating a category‑defining probate service: one that delivers a better, clearer and faster experience for families, supported by strong legal expertise and the operational discipline of a modern tech‑enabled business.

This is a rare opportunity to join at a pivotal moment, not as a passenger, but as someone who will shape how we scale.

Why this role matters

The Estate Administration Team is one of three specialist operational teams at the heart of our service. It owns the final and most complex phase of the probate journey, administering estates, making distributions and closing accounts.

As Estate Administration Manager, you will lead this team and take full ownership of the journey from receiving the Grant of Probate through to final distributions and estate closure. This is a new role, created to support our next phase of growth as we move from end‑to‑end case ownership to specialist, high‑performing pods.

You’ll lead a team of Junior Case Managers and Apprentices, deliver against a 180‑day SLA, and ensure estates are administered with exceptional legal accuracy, clarity and care. You’ll also build the systems, processes and quality controls that will allow us to scale to thousands of cases.

If you’re motivated by building something new, improving legal processes, and making a meaningful difference for families, this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and developing the Estate Administration Team, ensuring high performance, engagement and progression
  • Owning delivery against the 180‑day SLA and monitoring estate progress through to closure
  • Signing off distributions, corrective accounts and complex legal matters in line with regulatory standards
  • Managing relationships with beneficiaries, executors and third parties, resolving complex queries and escalations
  • Building and maintaining data systems to track progress, identify blockers and provide visibility to leadership
  • Working with product and technology teams to automate manual steps and improve workflows
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and professional standards, including AML and SRA requirements
  • Coaching and developing team members, including creating opportunities for rotation across the probate journey
  • Collaborating with Onboarding and Application teams to ensure alignment across the full customer experience
  • Reporting on performance, quality metrics and closure rates to senior leadership

Who we’re looking for

You are a qualified lawyer (3+ PQE) with extensive experience in probate and estate administration.

You bring:

  • Deep expertise in administering estates, preparing accounts, making distributions and resolving complex legal issues
  • Confidence signing off high‑value distributions and navigating challenging family dynamics or disputed estates
  • A passion for quality, efficiency and getting things right first time
  • Experience leading and developing teams in a legal or operational environment
  • The ability to build processes, structure and clarity in a fast‑growing organisation
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients and collaborate across teams
  • A desire to build something meaningful and scalable from the ground up

What We Offer

  • Annual salary of up to £75,000 depending on experience
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
  • X2 Life Assurance, Pension Scheme
  • Hybrid flexible working (3 days in our Maidenhead office)
  • Genuine career progression and mentorship opportunities
  • A chance to make a meaningful contribution to people's lives and deaths

It's inevitable that all of us are going to deal with death at some time in our lives. It’s a fundamental, tragic part of what it is to be human. But the services that should be supporting us haven’t changed in decades. From writing your will to planning a funeral or organising probate, the way we deal with death can be complicated and expensive. Instead of feeling supported, people feel lost.

But it doesn’t need to be this way. We started Farewill to make the experience warmer, brighter, and friendlier. Now we’re the UK’s top rated probate provider and help our customers pledge over £300 million to charities through gifts left in their wills.

This role is working in an SRA regulated legal practice to provide probate and estate administration services.

About Us

We are Dignity, one of the UK’s oldest and most trusted funeral providers, with over 200 years of history, 570 branches, and 46 crematoria. From launching the UK’s first funeral plan to helping shape modern regulation, we have led the way in supporting families with care, compassion, and professionalism.

Now we are building the UK’s leading end of life company. As part of the Dignity Group, we also operate Farewill, the country’s largest will writer and one of the UK’s top probate providers, giving families support not just at the funeral, but before and after as well.

Today, we are over 4,000 people across the UK, all driven by the same goal: to care for families with compassion and make the UK a world leader in end-of-life care. Here to help, whenever you need.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement

We know that diverse teams make better decisions, build better products, and create a better place to work. Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, and whatever your life looks like, we’d love to hear from you. And if there’s anything you need to make the process more accessible, please let us know

Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable.

We reserve the right depending on application numbers to close or extend the closing dates for positions; we would therefore recommend an early application.
