The Team

The Senior Global Medical Director will join the Mundipharma Medical Affairs team and provide strategic medical leadership across the Established Brands portfolio, driving development and execution of global medical strategy. The role will provide dedicated senior medical leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality development and execution of global medical strategies, as well as effective lifecycle optimisation and evidence generation for mature assets.

The Senior Global Medical Director, Established Brands will provide portfolio-level oversight, drive alignment across global and local teams, and ensure integration of medical strategy into brand planning and cross-functional decision-making. Positioned as a peer to the Global Marketing Strategy Lead, this role ensures balanced, strategic partnership between Medical and Commercial functions, enabling coordinated portfolio management, stronger governance, and maximisation of value across both therapeutic areas.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Global Team Leadership - Provide strategic direction and full management accountability (including performance, talent decisions, and organizational design) for a diverse global team of managers and senior subject-matter experts across multiple geographies.

  • Strategic & Operational Execution - Translate overarching enterprise strategy into actionable functional plans, leading business planning cycles to ensure complete alignment with global priorities.

  • Cross-Functional accountability, delivering sustainable results across multiple global units within complex, fast-changing, and highly regulated environments.

  • Financial & Resource Control - Oversee large budgets and optimize resource allocation across competing initiatives to ensure maximum return on investment (ROI) and strategic alignment.

  • Governance & Policy Frameworks - Shape, establish, and enforce functional policies, governance structures, and standard operating models to optimize organizational performance.

  • Complex problem solving, looking beyond traditional methodologies to define innovative, cross-disciplinary solutions for ambiguous or undefined organizational challenges with broad enterprise impact.

  • Proactive risk management in anticipating future business and regulatory hurdles, dynamically adapting functional strategies and balancing trade-offs to protect and advance the business.

What you’ll bring

  • MD Qualified would be preferred but also open to PharmD/PhD with strong therapeutic expertise

  • Proven experience in relevant Global Medical Director or relevant positions

  • Previous experience in Respiratory or Pain Management would be ideal but can be open to other therapeutic areas

  • Relevant certifications in clinical research, medical affairs, or pharmaceutical medicine (e.g., FFPM, Board Certification, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and external scientific engagement.

  • Proven experience managing managers and leading large, globally distributed teams, with full accountability for performance and outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ownership of multiple business units, functions, or portfolios with measurable organizational impact.

  • Track record of developing and executing departmental or functional business plans in complex environments.

  • Extensive experience operating in fast-changing, highly regulated global environments, delivering sustained results.
