Full job description
Achilleus Security is NOW recruiting SIA Licensed Door Supervisors in the Bournemouth area.
We are looking for professional, confident and experienced SIA Door Supervisors to join our growing Event Safety & Security Team, working at football matches, stadiums, sporting events, festivals and other major events in Bournemouth and the surrounding area. There may also be opportunities to work at events and venues across Hampshire, London, Essex, Suffolk and the Home Counties, if you are happy to travel. This is a part-time, casual position, with work offered on an as-and-when-required basis. Much of our work takes place during evenings and weekends, making the role suitable for experienced security professionals looking for flexible additional work.
THIS IS AN ACTIVE EVENT SECURITY ROLE
Our SIA Door Supervisors are a key part of the security and safety operation at the events and venues at which we work. This is not simply a customer service or observational role. Although delivering excellent customer service and preventing incidents wherever possible are fundamental parts of the position, there will be occasions when our SIA team members are required to deal directly with challenging, confrontational and potentially volatile situations. Depending upon your deployment, you may be required to:
- Manage conflict and challenging behaviour
- Deal professionally with aggressive, abusive or intoxicated individuals
- Intervene in disputes, disturbances and fights
- Support the safe removal or ejection of individuals from a venue
- Conduct searches of persons, bags and possessions in accordance with venue procedures and your training
- Enforce venue conditions of entry
- Refuse entry where appropriate
- Respond to security incidents
- Assist colleagues and venue teams during developing incidents
- Manage restricted and controlled areas
- Protect staff, customers and venue assets
- Support emergency procedures
- Work as part of response or intervention teams where appropriately trained and deployed
Applicants must therefore understand the nature of the role and be confident, professional and capable of remaining calm when dealing with difficult situations. We expect our SIA team members to use communication, professionalism and effective conflict management as their first approach wherever circumstances allow. Any physical intervention must only ever be undertaken where lawful, necessary and proportionate, and in accordance with your training, company procedures and the instructions applicable to your deployment.
JOIN THE ACHILLEUS SECURITY TEAM
Our SIA Door Supervisors are an essential part of the safety, security and customer service operation at every event and venue at which we work. You will represent both Achilleus Security and our clients, so professional behaviour, good judgement and high standards are essential. We understand the event safety and security industry and recognise that many experienced security professionals work for more than one organisation. We have no issue with this. What matters to us is that when you accept a shift with Achilleus Security, you honour that commitment, arrive on time and ready to work, and maintain the professional standards expected of our team.
SPECTATOR SAFETY QUALIFICATION
Our Safety Stewards are required to hold, or be working towards, an appropriate Level 2 or Level 3 Spectator Safety qualification or recognised equivalent. Don't already have the qualification? Don't worry. If you are the right candidate, we can help and support you in working towards this important industry qualification at a highly subsidised rate.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
Working with Achilleus Security means joining an established and experienced Event Safety & Security company with opportunities to work at a wide variety of exciting venues and events. Our SIA Door Supervisors can expect:
- Hourly rates from £15.49 to £18.08 per hour, depending on role, qualifications and deployment
- All rates inclusive of holiday pay
- Rates applicable from 1 April 2026
- Minimum 5 hours' pay per shift
- Monthly PAYE pay
- Wagestream, allowing eligible team members access to up to 50% of earned wages
- Company Pension Scheme, subject to eligibility
- Flexible, part-time casual working
- Modern app-based booking and roster system
- Training and professional development opportunities
- Opportunities to gain further nationally recognised qualifications
- Free Learning Management System with access to more than 20 courses
- Selected free online CPD training
- Supportive management and operational teams
- Opportunities to progress to Response Team, Team Leader, Supervisor and other senior operational roles
- No charges for insurance or required PPE
- Subsidised branded uniform
- Opportunities to work at additional venues and events across the UK
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position MUST:
- Be 18 years of age or over
- Hold a current and valid frontline SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- Have a good command of written and spoken English
- Be professional, reliable and punctual
- Have the confidence and maturity required to deal with challenging situations
- Be capable of communicating effectively with members of the public, colleagues, supervisors and venue management
- Be willing to work as part of a professional Event Safety & Security Team
- Be available for event work, which is predominantly during evenings and weekends
- Be prepared to undertake ongoing training and Continuing Professional Development
- Be physically capable of carrying out the requirements of the role, which may include prolonged periods of standing, walking and using stairs
- Be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Be able to attend the shifts they have accepted and committed to
Additional qualifications and experience in areas such as Physical Intervention, First Aid, Response Teams, Crowd Management or Supervisory roles may be advantageous and may affect the roles for which you can be deployed and the applicable rate of pay.
RECRUITMENT & SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
Due to the nature of the environments in which we operate, Achilleus Security maintains strict recruitment, screening and vetting standards. Applicants must be able to provide:
- Photographic proof of identity
- Evidence of their Right to Work in the UK
- A current and valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- Recent and acceptable proof of address
- A minimum five-year checkable history for screening and vetting purposes
- Evidence of relevant qualifications where applicable
- Any additional documentation reasonably required to complete our recruitment, screening and vetting process
Being able to provide a satisfactory five-year checkable history is an essential requirement of the role. All team members are engaged and paid through PAYE. We do not offer these positions on a self-employed or UTR basis.
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
As an Event & Football SIA Door Supervisor, you will form part of the operational security team responsible for helping to maintain the safety, security and wellbeing of spectators, customers, staff, performers, players, officials and other people within the venue or event environment. The exact duties will depend upon the event, venue and position to which you are deployed. You must be prepared for the role to involve considerably more than simply standing at an entrance.
REGULAR TASKS & DUTIES MAY INCLUDE
- Providing professional and proactive customer service
- Monitoring access and egress points
- Controlling entry into restricted or controlled areas
- Checking tickets, passes and accreditation
- Conducting searches in accordance with venue policies and procedures
- Detecting and preventing prohibited items from entering venues
- Enforcing conditions of entry
- Refusing entry where appropriate
- Monitoring spectator and crowd behaviour
- Identifying potential security or safety concerns before they escalate
- Using effective communication and conflict-management techniques
- De-escalating confrontational or volatile situations
- Dealing with aggressive, abusive or intoxicated individuals
- Responding to fights, disorder and other disturbances
- Supporting colleagues during security incidents
- Assisting with the lawful and safe ejection of individuals from venues
- Supporting Response Teams where appropriately trained and deployed
- Protecting restricted areas, assets and infrastructure
- Responding to suspicious behaviour or activity
- Reporting unattended or suspicious items
- Assisting with emergency evacuation or invacuation
- Responding to accidents and incidents as directed
- Accurately reporting and recording incidents, accidents, irregularities and near misses
- Preserving incident scenes where required
- Following instructions from supervisors, venue management and event control
- Maintaining professional standards throughout the deployment
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT & PHYSICAL INTERVENTION
Working within major events and football environments means that occasionally our security teams will encounter conflict, disorder or individuals who refuse to comply with reasonable instructions. We therefore need SIA Door Supervisors who can remain calm, controlled and professional under pressure. Good security is not about looking for confrontation. Our expectation is that team members use communication, persuasion, professionalism and conflict-management techniques to prevent and de-escalate incidents wherever reasonably possible. However, there may be circumstances where appropriately trained SIA personnel are required to assist with an intervention or ejection. Where this occurs, team members must act only within the law, their training, company procedures and venue instructions, and any action taken must be necessary, reasonable and proportionate to the circumstances. We are looking for people who understand that distinction.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We want professional security personnel who understand that holding an SIA licence is only the starting point. Our ideal team members will:
- Be confident without being confrontational
- Remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrate excellent conflict-management skills
- Be capable of dealing with challenging and emotive situations
- Have good situational awareness
- Know when to intervene and when to escalate an issue to a supervisor
- Communicate clearly and professionally
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Be polite, respectful and courteous
- Be assertive when the situation requires it
- Exercise sound judgement
- Follow instructions and operational procedures
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Support colleagues when incidents occur
- Be reliable and responsible
- Maintain high standards of grooming and presentation
- Adapt quickly to changing operational situations
- Be comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
- Be approachable when dealing with the public
- Be willing to continually learn and improve
- Behave maturely and professionally
- Take pride in representing Achilleus Security and our clients
- Most importantly, be someone we can rely upon to attend and professionally undertake the shifts they have agreed to work
Previous experience in football, stadiums, events, festivals, licensed premises, response teams or other public-facing security environments would be advantageous.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROGRESSION
Achilleus Security is an established and growing company, and we are always looking for talented people who have the potential to progress. Team members who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, sound judgement, leadership ability and consistently high operational standards may have opportunities to progress into:
- Response Team positions
- Team Leader roles
- Company Supervisor positions
- Senior operational roles
- Other specialist event safety and security deployments
If you want to develop within the Event Safety & Security industry, we want to help you do it.
OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS
We take recruitment seriously because the quality and professionalism of our team directly affects the service we provide to our clients and the safety of the public. Our initial interview process is completed online using our recruitment portal. You will be invited to record video responses to a series of interview questions. We're not looking for the next Hollywood star! We simply want to learn more about you, how you communicate, how you approach different situations and whether you demonstrate the professionalism, judgement and attitude we require from our SIA team. One of the advantages of the online interview is that you can complete it at a convenient time and, where the system allows, re-record your responses before submitting them. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer with a camera and internet connection. Our recruitment process includes:
- Pre-interview questionnaire
- Online video interview
- Application form and ID/document submission
- Screening, vetting and onboarding
We aim to progress suitable applicants through the recruitment process as quickly as possible. However, how quickly we can complete your application will depend significantly upon how promptly you complete each stage and provide the documents and information requested from you.
