FRONTLINE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS Part of Aetheria Group

We Are Hiring — Support Workers | Children and Families Hertfordshire | Part-Time, Flexible and Bank Opportunities Salary dependent on experience and hours worked

About the Role

Frontline Health Professionals is recruiting Support Workers across Hertfordshire to deliver flexible, responsive care as part of our children and families service.

These are part-time, shift-based roles working across a range of packages designed to support families in need, prevent placement or family breakdown, and respond to emergency and short-notice situations. Placements can be located anywhere across Hertfordshire and may change based on service need.

This is not a standard residential role. You will be deployed across different settings, working with different families and young people, and you must be comfortable adapting quickly, working independently, and maintaining consistent professional standards across varied environments.

Working Pattern

Shifts range from 4 to 12 hours depending on the package. Availability across days, evenings, and weekends is essential. You will be contacted for shifts based on your availability and the needs of the service. There is no guaranteed minimum hours, and you will be paid per shift worked.

We welcome applicants who can commit to regular availability as well as those who can offer flexible or ad-hoc cover. The more availability you can offer, the more we can match you to consistent work.

What the Role Involves

Across all packages, our Support Workers:

  • Provide direct support to children, young people, and families within their home or community setting.
  • Help prevent family breakdown by offering consistent, practical, and emotionally grounded support.
  • Respond to emergency placement or support needs at short notice where required.
  • Support daily routines, personal care, activities, and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate clearly with the coordinating team.
  • Work within agreed risk assessments, support plans, and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Escalate concerns promptly and appropriately.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for experienced, grounded, and reliable individuals who understand the pressures facing children and families in crisis and can work calmly and effectively in dynamic environments.

Essential requirements for all applicants:

  • Right to work in the United Kingdom — we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
  • Previous experience working with children and young people in a professional capacity.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to travel to placements across Hertfordshire.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, professional boundaries, and service standards.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting families at risk, children in need, or looked-after children.
  • Experience in emergency or crisis support environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding

Frontline Health Professionals is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants must be willing to undergo:

  • Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check, clear prior to deployment.
  • Verification of identity, right to work, and employment history.
  • Two satisfactory references, including the most recent employer.
  • Full induction before any unsupervised deployment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay, dependent on role and experience.
  • Flexible working to suit your availability.
  • A responsive and supportive coordination team.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families at critical points in their lives.
  • Access to ongoing training and professional development.

Location

Placements are located across Hertfordshire. Our coordination base is in central Hertfordshire (AL1 postcode area, St Albans).
