We have an excellent opportunity available for a Technology Project Manager to join our DDaT (Digital, Data and Technology) Team, here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract.

As the Technology Project Manager, you will form part of the DDaT Project Team whilst working independently, leading on high value procurements and the delivery of high profile Council IT projects.

You will run projects in accordance with project management methodologies contributing to the operation of the Council’s Technology Programme function, including management of the Project Portfolio Management process.

You will be required to plan, implement and deliver major, complex and transformational technology projects inline with timeframes and budgets, enabling the required benefits to be released.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Project Manager for projects prioritised as ‘Complex’ through the Council’s Technology Project Portfolio.
  • Follow specific programme management, project (adapted PRINCE II) and other guidance as may be defined from time to time.
  • Define resource requirements.
  • Administer and manage the project process and service project meetings.
  • Consult on, agree, and produce project plans and timescales.
  • Identify key outputs and milestones for decision/delivery.
  • Report to the Project Sponsor and Project Boards on the progress of individual projects.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and aptitude).
  • Knowledge of local government and particularly transformational Government and efficiency agenda.
  • Highly developed organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate and report at a senior level.
  • Proven ability in managing detailed Technical projects, staff and budgets.
  • Proven experience of working with 3rd party providers, suppliers or consultants in the delivery of significant and complex Technical projects.

Whilst this is a fixed term contract appointment, for anyone already employed by Wokingham Borough Council this would be classed as a secondment if successful.
