Project Manager – Global Exhibitions & Brand Experiences

Join Formation Global

Formation Global is an award-winning exhibition and experiential agency that designs and delivers exceptional brand experiences for clients around the world. From major international trade shows and exhibitions to immersive environments and live events, we combine creativity, technical expertise and flawless project delivery to bring ambitious ideas to life.

We're an ambitious, growing business with an entrepreneurial culture, investing in our people, our capabilities and the future of our industry. No two days are the same. You'll work alongside talented creatives, technical specialists and trusted global partners, delivering projects for leading brands across Europe, North America, the Middle East and beyond.

This role offers the opportunity to travel internationally, spend time onsite bringing projects to life, while also enjoying the flexibility of hybrid working from home when project schedules allow. Applicants must be based in the UK, have the legal right to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence. If you enjoy variety, thrive under pressure and want to see your work make an impact around the world, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As Project Manager, you'll take ownership of exhibition and experiential projects from initial client briefing through design development, production and onsite installation. You'll be responsible for ensuring every project is delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and to the exceptionally high standards our clients expect.

Working closely with our creative, production and account teams, you'll transform ideas into practical, commercially successful solutions while managing suppliers, contractors, budgets, logistics and installation teams across multiple international projects.

This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisation, commercial awareness and the confidence to lead projects from concept through to completion.

We are seeking candidates from middleweight up to senior level experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from client briefing through to final onsite delivery.
  • Lead the technical and operational delivery of international exhibition and experiential projects.
  • Develop realistic project plans, programmes and budgets.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Work closely with our creative team to ensure concepts remain technically feasible and commercially viable.
  • Manage project profitability and maintain agreed margins.
  • Coordinate multiple suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and logistics partners.
  • Identify the most effective production methods and best-value solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and venue partners.
  • Attend client meetings, project briefings, site surveys and presentations.
  • Travel to oversee onsite build, installation, live event delivery and dismantle.
  • Ensure compliance with venue regulations, health & safety requirements and international exhibition standards.
  • Produce clear project documentation, schedules and status updates.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of project management processes and operational efficiency.
  • Support the continued growth and development of Formation Global's project delivery function.
  • Embrace new technologies, production methods and innovative ways of working.
  • Work collaboratively across all departments to deliver outstanding client experiences.

What We're Looking For

You'll be someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and delivering complex projects in fast-moving environments. You'll be equally comfortable discussing creative concepts with designers as you are coordinating suppliers onsite or reviewing project budgets.

Ideally you'll have experience within exhibitions, events, experiential marketing, retail environments or similar project-based industries.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing exhibitions, live events or experiential projects.
  • Excellent project planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Confident decision maker with excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Good understanding of production methods, materials and installation processes.
  • Ability to visualise projects in three dimensions.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings and production information.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience using design or CAD software would be advantageous but is not essential.

Personal Qualities

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about delivering exceptional work.
  • Positive, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Commercially minded with excellent judgement.
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Organised with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and supportive of colleagues.
  • Curious, eager to learn and open to new ideas.
  • Professional, reliable and accountable.
  • Comfortable taking ownership and making decisions.
  • Honest, ethical and committed to high standards.
  • Flexible and willing to travel internationally when required.

Travel & Working Pattern

This is a hybrid role combining office-based working, home working and international travel.

The successful candidate should expect:

  • Regular UK and overseas travel.
  • Periods of onsite installation and live event support.
  • Visits to client sites, suppliers and production facilities.
  • Occasional overnight stays.
  • Weekend work where project schedules require.
  • Flexibility to work from home.

Essential Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

  • Be based in the United Kingdom.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
  • Be willing and able to travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally.
  • Be comfortable working onsite for extended periods during exhibition builds, installations and live events, including occasional overnight stays and weekend work.

Why Join Formation Global?

  • Work on exciting projects for leading global brands.
  • Travel internationally and experience world-class exhibitions and events.
  • Join an ambitious, growing and forward-thinking business.
  • Be part of a talented, collaborative and supportive team.
  • Enjoy genuine responsibility, autonomy and variety in your work.
  • Benefit from opportunities for personal development and career progression.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working where project commitments allow.
  • Help shape the future of an agency that is continuing to grow its international reputation.
