Full job description

Mulberry House is looking for a warm, creative, and community-minded Events & Community Coordinator to join our Wellbeing & Activities Team.

About the Role

We’re looking for a warm, creative, and community-minded Events & Community Coordinator to join our Wellbeing & Activities Team.

This is a rewarding and people-focused role, where you’ll play a key part in enriching the lives of our residents through meaningful events and strong connections with the local community. You’ll organise a varied programme of events within the home, support residents in attending activities in the wider community, and build relationships with organisations that bring energy, companionship, and joy into the home.

A vital part of this role is supporting admissions and occupancy. By creating a vibrant, welcoming environment and building a strong community presence, you will help showcase the home as a positive, engaging place to live—encouraging prospective residents and their families to choose our home. From hosting open days and family events to providing engaging experiences that current residents can share with others, your work will directly contribute to the home’s reputation, enquiries, and overall occupancy levels.

You’ll also take the lead in promoting events through eye-catching posters and liaise with the marketing team to support larger initiatives. If you’re someone who thrives on creativity, organisation, and meaningful human connection—this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build strong, lasting relationships with a wide range of community partners, including:
  • Schools, nurseries, and colleges – for intergenerational visits, projects, and performances.
  • Charities, care hubs, and day centres – for shared events, outings, and collaborative wellbeing initiatives.
  • Faith groups and local churches – to offer spiritual support and inclusive events.
  • Local businesses – for sponsorships, guest visits, donations, or joint community activities.
  • Arts, music, and theatre groups – to bring creative and cultural experiences into the home.
  • Volunteer organisations – including Scouts, Guides, and Duke of Edinburgh participants for community involvement and support.
  • Animal therapy groups and local pet charities – to bring in visiting animals for resident wellbeing.
  • Libraries and museums – for outreach visits, storytelling, or memory-based programmes.
  • Represent the home at local community events, fairs, and networking activities.
  • Organise and accompany residents on external trips and visits that reflect their interests and promote connection.

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Working alongside our Wellbeing & Activities Team you will plan, promote, and deliver an engaging calendar of events tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
  • Lead seasonal celebrations, open days, themed days, awareness campaigns, cultural events, and community initiatives - creating uplifting, positive experiences that also serve as opportunities to welcome prospective residents and families into the home.
  • Coordinate visits from entertainers, schools, local groups, and volunteers.
  • Support the Wellbeing & Activities Team with resident involvement and personalised engagement.
  • Help residents stay connected to their community with the hobbies, traditions and people they love.

Marketing, Promotion & Communication

  • Design and distribute attractive posters and promotional materials for in-house events.
  • Creating friendly content for social media and newsletters, capturing the warmth and personality of our homes
  • Work alongside the marketing team to promote larger events through social media, newsletters, or external publicity —showcasing the home’s vibrant lifestyle to boost enquiries and occupancy.
  • Keep accurate records of community contacts, planned events, and feedback.

· Communicate event updates to residents, families, and the wider team, ensuring everyone feels respected, valued, and involved.

About You

  • A friendly, enthusiastic people-person who enjoys bringing communities together.
  • You’re comfortable working with older people, including those living with dementia, always approaching interactions with empathy and compassion.
  • Previous experience in event planning, community engagement, or sales and marketing roles (care sector experience a plus).
  • An understanding of how to positively influence admissions and occupancy through events, open days, and community engagement - recognising that every interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate the warmth and vitality of the home.
  • Confident relationship builder with excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, creative, and capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a supportive team where everyone’s contribution matters.
  • Competent in basic IT tools (Word, Canva, email, etc.) for creating event materials.
  • Flexible to occasionally work evenings or weekends for special events.
