Allied Medical Group Ltd is a CQC-registered independent healthcare provider delivering patient transport, ambulance services and event medical cover across Lincolnshire and the wider UK.

We are looking for professional and compassionate Ambulance Care Assistants to support our non-emergency patient transport service. This role involves transporting patients safely and comfortably between their homes, hospitals, outpatient appointments and other healthcare settings.

The Role

As an Ambulance Care Assistant, you will work as part of an ambulance crew to provide safe, respectful and patient-centred transport. You will support patients who may have mobility difficulties, additional needs or ongoing health conditions.

Some patients may require the use of a wheelchair, carry chair or stretcher. You must be comfortable assisting with the safe movement and handling of patients while maintaining their dignity, comfort and independence.

When not undertaking patient transfers, you may be required to complete reasonable station duties, including vehicle preparation, equipment checks, cleaning and restocking.

Main Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely between healthcare facilities, residential settings and private addresses.
• Assist patients when entering and leaving the ambulance.
• Support the safe movement of wheelchair, carry-chair and stretcher patients.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, relatives, carers and healthcare professionals.
• Monitor patients during transport and promptly escalate any concerns.
• Complete accurate patient transport and operational documentation.
• Undertake vehicle and equipment checks before deployment.
• Clean and restock vehicles in accordance with infection prevention and control procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data-protection requirements.
• Recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
• Follow AMG policies, clinical procedures and operational instructions.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent AMG positively.
• Complete all required competency assessments and mandatory training updates.

Essential Requirements

• An existing qualification suitable for working as an Ambulance Care Assistant.
• A caring, respectful and patient-focused approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and use initiative when appropriate.
• Physically capable of undertaking patient movement and handling duties.
• A full UK driving licence with no more than six current penalty points.
• Willingness to work a flexible range of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Reliable transport to attend AMG’s operating base.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience in healthcare, social care, ambulance services or patient transport.
• Existing enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service.
• Category C1 driving entitlement.
• Emergency response ambulance driving qualification.
• Experience using wheelchairs, carry chairs, stretchers and other patient-handling equipment.
