Full job description
FESTIVAL PRODUCTION MANAGER
12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to become permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Festival Production Manager to lead the planning and delivery of a 10,000-capacity family food festival.
With a 10-month production run-up, this is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to take an event from plans and spreadsheets through to a fully operational site.
You’ll take ownership of the festival production schedule, coordinate suppliers and contractors, coordinate the build and break, and work closely with our Operations, Hospitality and Marketing teams to make sure everyone’s requirements come together on site.
We’re looking for someone organised, practical and comfortable taking responsibility. You’ll need to be equally at home building a detailed production schedule, negotiating with a supplier and walking an event site solving problems.
THE ROLE
You’ll be responsible for coordinating the physical production of the festival from the early planning stages through to delivery and de-rig.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and managing the master production schedule and critical path
- Coordinating suppliers, contractors and production partners
- Obtaining quotes, managing orders and keeping production costs under control
- Planning site infrastructure (alongside Operations) including temporary structures, power, water, waste, toilets, fencing, trackway and other event requirements
- Developing build, event and break schedules
- Coordinating site plans and production documentation
- Working with suppliers on RAMS and relevant health & safety documentation
- Identifying production requirements across Hospitality, Operations and Marketing and incorporating these into the overall plan
- Chairing regular production meetings and keeping teams updated on deadlines and dependencies
- Planning contractor access, deliveries, plant and site logistics
- Working with Operations to schedule and coordinate build teams during build, live and de-rig
- Taking a leading role on site throughout build, live event and de-rig
- Troubleshooting production issues and making practical decisions when plans inevitably change
- Completing supplier reconciliation and a post-event production review
ABOUT YOU
We’re particularly interested in people with experience delivering festivals, outdoor events, live events, temporary venues or large-scale public events.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Event Production Manager, Festival Production Manager or similar role
- Experience coordinating multiple event suppliers and contractors
- Strong production scheduling and project management skills
- A good understanding of temporary event infrastructure
- Experience working on event builds and de-rigs
- Confidence managing budgets, quotes and supplier negotiations
- Good working knowledge of event health & safety and contractor documentation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate several internal teams
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of your area
- The ability to remain organised when the pace increases as the event gets closer
Experience of food festivals, large-scale hospitality events or events involving significant temporary infrastructure would be particularly useful.
THE CONTRACT
This is initially a 12-month fixed-term position, giving you the opportunity to take the festival through an entire planning and delivery cycle.
For the right person, there is the opportunity for the position to develop into a permanent role as part of our events team.
The workload will naturally increase as we approach the festival, so flexibility around working hours during the build, event and de-rig period will be required. Additional hours worked during significant event periods will be managed through an agreed TOIL arrangement.
Pay: £44,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
