Full job description

Company Overview

At Oakley Food Projects, we design practical, high-performing spaces for the food industry, combining technical expertise with real-world functionality. Guided by our core values of being Energetic, Pragmatic, and Purposeful, we are seeking a Concept Designer who is passionate about helping clients create fit-for-purpose factories that meet industry regulations and operational needs.

The Role

As a Concept Designer, you’ll play a key role in the early stages of project development, working collaboratively to turn ideas into clear, creative, and technically informed design proposals. Using Revit, you’ll develop and design concepts within industrial fit-out environments.

This role also offers a clear pathway into Technical Design for individuals with a strong interest in developing deeper technical expertise and expanding their skillset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce sketches, layouts, and 3D concept models in Revit, interpreting the client’s needs from initial design and meetings.
  • Contribute actively to design reviews, bringing energy and fresh thinking to discussions.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial fit-out and factory environments to develop practical design solutions.
  • Develop an understanding of key design areas, including: Space planning and workflow optimisation, building plans and elevations, integration of mechanical and electrical layouts, fire strategy principles, designing around processing equipment and flows
  • Identify design challenges early and propose creative yet buildable solutions.
  • Continuously refine designs in response to feedback, changes, and evolving project requirements.
  • Integrate basic safety considerations and risk awareness into concept designs.
  • Support the preparation of design information and outline specifications.
  • Deliver a clear handover from concept to technical design, fully briefing the team.

About You

  • Proven experience using Revit.
  • Background or exposure to commercial fit-out projects (industrial or food sector experience is advantageous) desirable but not essential.
  • Technical problem-solving, with a solutions based mindset.
  • Energetic in your approach—proactive, enthusiastic, and engaged.
  • Pragmatic thinker—balancing creativity with real-world constraints and buildability.
  • Purposeful in your work—focused on delivering meaningful, high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong visualisation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas through design drawings and verbally to stakeholders in a meeting environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with an interest in how concepts translate into real-world environments.
  • Confident collaborator with a positive, adaptable mindset.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous learning and development.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work with a creative and collaborative design team.
  • A role that blends operational excellence with client-facing responsibility.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including profit share.
  • Professional growth and development opportunities.
  • cooked lunches provided three times per week.
  • Company events and team building days.
  • Company pension.
  • Free annual flu jabs.
  • On-site parking.
  • Private dental insurance.
  • Private medical insurance.

Why Join Oakley Food Projects?

At Oakley, we foster a culture where designers are encouraged to explore ideas, challenge conventions, and make an impact. You’ll be part of a team that brings energy to every project, focuses on practical outcomes, and works with purpose to deliver exceptional, technically driven environments.
