Twin Screw Extruder Operator

Location: Thornsett, High Peak, Derbyshire, SK22 1AH
Job Type: Full-time

Working Hours

Probationary Hours:
Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 5:00pm

Following successful completion of probation, employees will move onto a rotating early/late shift pattern operating between 6:00am and 10:00pm.

About the Role

Prisma Colour Ltd is an established UK manufacturer seeking a reliable and motivated Twin Screw Extruder Operator to join our growing production team in Thornsett.

Working within our Production Department, you will be responsible for operating one of our Twin Screw Extruders, handling raw materials, and producing high-quality masterbatch products in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on role involving the operation of extrusion equipment, material handling, and maintaining high standards of quality and housekeeping. Full training will be provided, with opportunities for career development and progression within the business.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one of our Twin Screw Extruders safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Handle and process materials with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Accurately weigh and record raw materials as required.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness within the production area.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Assist with materials handling, including the storage and movement of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Complete production records and documentation as required.
  • This position involves lifting materials weighing up to 25kg, handling pigments and dyes, and undertaking general manual duties.

Experience & SkillsEssential

  • Good attention to detail.
  • Basic mathematical skills for weighing, measuring and calculations.
  • Ability to work safely within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to undertake manual handling tasks as part of the role.

Desirable

  • Manufacturing experience preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.
  • Previous experience operating extrusion lines.
  • Experience handling, weighing and mixing pigments, powders or additives.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and materials handling.
  • Forklift truck licence.

Pay & Benefits

Starting Salary: £28,392 per annum

Hourly Rate

  • £13.00 per hour during training and probation.
  • Increasing to £14.25 per hour upon successful completion of training and competency assessment.

Overtime Rate

  • £19.50 per hour during training and probation.
  • Increasing to £21.38 per hour upon successful completion of training and competency assessment.
  • Overtime paid for all hours worked in excess of 42 hours per week.
