JOB PURPOSE
The key objective of the Basic Operator role is to maximise production in the Extrusion Department in a safe and efficient manner whilst ensuring product quality is maintained and wastage minimised. 12-hour shift pattern.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work in line with all department targets and objectives are met – safety, quality, hygiene, housekeeping, Production;
  • Accurately Record and retain all department data.
  • Ensuring that all work undertaken is carried out in a safe and proper manner.
  • Ensuring that all written documentation is updated correctly, and all relevant production data recorded
  • Taking appropriate action to troubleshoot and/or highlight problems when necessary
  • Conducting quality checks at the specified frequencies.
  • Assisting maintenance when required
  • Identifying and recommending areas for improvement
  • Participating in continuous improvement project

TECHNICAL

  • Safety and accident statistics within the finishing department remain at an acceptable level – target zero.
  • Quality and hygiene issues are highlighted, and dealt with appropriately – ANS & MRF’s, customer complaints (internal & external), hygiene audits satisfactory.
  • Area targets and objectives are met - safety, quality, hygiene, waste, productivity, utilisation and costs.
  • ‘Temporary fixes’ on machinery are highlighted, and long-term solutions found.
  • Accurate generation and of shift production data
  • Daily log sheet/book is completed, and all problems and issues are recorded, and where appropriate, action taken.
