If you are passionate about maintaining cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and want to be part of a forward-thinking company, we invite you to bring your expertise to Plysolene Limited. Join us in shaping the future of thermoplastic sheet extrusion.

About the Role

Join a trusted UK manufacturer where your engineering skills keep production moving.

We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our market-leading thermoplastics manufacturing business in West Sussex.

In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs across a wide range of specialised manufacturing equipment. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our thermoplastic sheet extrusion and processing lines operate efficiently and reliably.

Working closely with, and overseeing, an engineering apprentice, you’ll face a diverse set of mechanical and electrical challenges—no two days will be the same. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll have a direct impact on production performance, uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with both modern and legacy machinery in a fast-paced environment where your expertise is valued and your contribution makes a tangible difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production and ancillary equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, minimising downtime.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and support continuous improvement projects.
  • Install, commission, and maintain new equipment and systems.
  • Maintain fire alarm systems and oversee general site maintenance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working practices.
  • Supervise and support an engineering apprentice and coordinate with staff and external contractors.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Competence in mechanical repairs, including bearings, belts, chains, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, maintenance logs, etc.).

Working pattern: Day shift with occasional call-out responsibilities.
