Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Sawmill Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining sawmill machinery to produce high-quality timber products. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently within a busy sawmill environment. Prior experience in operating machinery is advantageous. The position offers an opportunity to develop technical skills and contribute to a dynamic production team.

Duties

  • Operate various sawmill machines with precision and attention to safety standards
  • Set up and adjust machinery according to production specifications
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Assist with loading and unloading timber
  • Perform heavy lifting tasks safely, handling raw materials and finished products
  • Monitor production processes, ensuring quality control throughout the operation
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets

Experience

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and machinery operation is highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques is advantageous
  • Experience in assembly or sewing related tasks can be beneficial but is not essential
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in industrial settings is essential
