Full job description

Portable Foods Manufacturing Company Ltd is a subsidiary of Mars Snacking, previously Kellogg Company, established in 1998 and based in Wrexham. We produce a wide range of cereal bars and fruit snacks, and we are committed to sustaining a culture of extensive training, support and development for our flexible multi-skilled teams. Portable Foods is proud to be recognised for delivering the highest standards for Safety, Food Safety and Quality.

We are seeking Production Operators who will ensure the daily production plan is met safely, to the required plant efficiency, product quality and hygiene standards through positive behaviours and consistently deliver key plant KPI’s using lean techniques. This is a shift-based role working a 12-hour shift pattern. (2 Shift work pattern and 3 Shift work pattern – all patterns are 7-7 and will be required to do both day and night shifts).

The ideal candidate will:

· Have experience of working as a production operator in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to follow instructions – working to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

  • Have knowledge of performance metrics and standards
  • Be a self-motivated team player with a flexible attitude
  • Have experience of working with standardised processes within designated time frames
  • Have the ability to embrace change within a fast-paced organisation and drive continuous improvement
  • Have a clear understanding of lean principles, their applications and execute them to a high standard

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Deliver against key performance indicators, including safety, quality, productivity, training & development to achieve results aligned to OEE improvements
  • Implement containment activities on shift where possible and escalate any issues.
  • Ensure the production of safe food to defined quality standards

· Handle raw and packaging materials, operate, clean and monitor production equipment to produce finished case goods according to performance and production targets.

· Adherence to all Environmental, Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures, active engagement and involvement in audits and near miss reporting. Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure the product meets specification and legal weight. Complete routine tasks to ensure hygiene standards are met.

  • Conduct routine Autonomous Maintenance tasks to maintain equipment basic condition, engage in the capability building process by attending scheduled coaching sessions and workshops.
  • Collaborating with other operators on the production line to maintain workflow and efficiency, communicating production updates on shift handovers, participating in team meetings to discuss production targets, issues and improvements
