We are looking for a dynamic and creative person who is passionate about disability and making a difference in children’s lives.

You would be joining a small and friendly team of Family Support Workers and Social Workers who work with families to promote the best outcomes for children with additional needs. The team work with children aged 0-16 with a range of complex disabilities and health needs. We work in a multi-disciplinary way to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.

This is an exciting role, which is essential for our service and comprises of two main parts. You will be empowering parents and carers in areas such as communication, routines, boundaries and developing their confidence in parenting/caring their child with additional needs.

These children have a settled shortbreaks support package in place and you will complete a review every 6 months to ensure their support package continues to meet their disability needs. As part of the review process, you will also identify any family support work that may be needed and have the autonomy to carry this out and shape the plan making a real difference in children’s lives

You will also be required to support a drop in service on a rota basis to provide the wider children’s services disability specific advice and guidance.

We are looking for a creative person, skilled in working with children with additional needs and an understanding of how this impacts on them and their families. You will be able to work directly with parents/carers being supportive and also instructive. Communication skills are essential, being able to take a diverse and bespoke approach for each individual child. The post is based in the south team working across the south of the county, however there may also be a requirement at times to cover work in the south of the county as well as working with children who are placed outside of Worcestershire.

Worcestershire are currently operating a hybrid working model, which will involve working from home but also coming into the office when required.

We are a well established and supportive team providing regular supervision and peer support opportunities, and if you share our passion for disability, we would love to hear from you.
