Full job description

Carer (Female) Required (Ref: PA5)

Afternoon Shifts: 1pm-8pm:

Wednesday and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (28 hours per week)

  • I am a physically disabled woman living in my own family home, in New Ash Green (near Longfield/Dartford, Kent) and I value my independence.
  • A position has become available on my dedicated team of female carers who support me with personal care, day to day living, and activities that help me live an active and fulfilling life.
  • I am looking for local people who are enthusiastic, patient, good communicators, and who have a positive outlook, show initiative and are confident in offering practical support throughout the day.
  • ·This position would suit someone who would enjoy working in a small friendly family environment and is looking for some extra shifts. At least two years experience of supporting someone with a physical disability is essential.

· As I live in a village with poor public transport links, I will also require you to drive me in my specially adapted vehicle, so you will need to be a driver with a car and you must be located not more than 40 minutes drive away (unless you live in or close to New Ash Green).

  • There is also the possibility of covering other shifts when my other carers are on annual leave or on sick leave.

Available Shifts:

There are four shifts available per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) totalling 28 hours. The shift times are: 1pm-8pm.

Shifts are paid as follows:

Wednesday/Thursday - £15.00 per hour

Saturday/Sunday - £15.50 per hour

Some of the activities associated with this role are as follows:

  • A range of personal care tasks (for which you will receive full training).
  • Domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry and ironing etc.
  • Supporting me to prepare meals and assisting me to eat and drink throughout the day. Mealtimes are an important part of my day, can take a long time and involve extended one to one support.
  • Providing support with mobility and positioning, including the use of specialist equipment such as a hoist to assist with transfers, helping me to turn and reposition in bed or in my wheelchair, and supporting my physiotherapy routines.
  • Supporting me with biggest passion, gardening. This involves working outdoors and indoors as I have many houseplants and a garden with trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Taking me out in my specially adapted vehicle. This includes hands on assistance to secure my wheelchair and positioning me using vehicle restraint systems.
  • Supporting me at hospital and healthcare appointments. These can sometimes be lengthy and require ongoing practical assistance, including helping with positioning, mobility, communication and comfort during visits.
  • Some administrative tasks including helping to maintain my diary and making telephone calls on my behalf.

This employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010 and this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure, the cost of which is covered by the employer.
