Job Overview

We are a family run poultry business. We are looking to find an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team The position includes a brand new 2 bedroom lodge set in a rural location within the farm boundary.

.The successful candidate would be responsible for helping the Manager and Senior Assistant Manager in all day to day aspects of the poultry farm including animal welfare, site safety and cleanliness, management and maintenance of the woodchip boilers.

An up to date poultry passport is preferred however for the right candidate training can be provided.

Duties

  • Assist in managing day-to-day broiler farm operations.
  • Monitor bird health, feeding, watering, ventilation, temperature, and stocking conditions.
  • Ensure proper implementation of biosecurity and sanitation procedures.
  • Supervise farm workers and assign daily tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of mortality, feed consumption, growth rates, medication, and flock performance.
  • Support vaccination, treatment, and disease prevention programmes under veterinary guidance.
  • Inspect poultry houses, equipment, and facilities to ensure proper functioning.
  • Help manage litter quality, waste disposal, and environmental compliance.
  • Monitor inventory of feed, medicines, equipment, and farm supplies.
  • Assist with flock placement, catching, loading, and dispatch activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, animal welfare standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment, wood chip boilers, including cleaning, minor repairs, and troubleshooting using hand tools and power tools
  • Conduct regular inspections of the poultry houses for cleanliness, biosecurity measures, and animal health issues
  • Assist with equipment repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency
  • Handle heavy lifting tasks related to, equipment parts, or supplies while adhering to safety protocols
  • Ability to respond to alarms.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and familiarity with hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively in a farm environment
  • Strong animal care skills with an understanding of poultry husbandry practices
  • Basic math skills for record keeping, measurements, and inventory management
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with a proactive attitude towards safety
  • any knowledge of biomass boilers would be an advantage
