Farm Manager - £40,000 - Barham, Kent + Benefits

The Job:
We are working on behalf of a specialist education provider to recruit a Farm Manager for their land based learning facility in Barham, Kent. This is a unique opportunity to combine practical farm management with making a genuine impact on the lives of young people. Working closely with the education team, you will oversee the day to day operation of the farm, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, health and safety, site maintenance and learner engagement, while supporting vocational and wellbeing programmes that provide valuable hands on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day running of the educational farm
- Oversee the care, welfare and management of a variety of livestock and animals
- Plan and manage feeding programmes, grazing schedules and stable operations
- Maintain fencing, farm equipment, buildings and site infrastructure
- Monitor animal health and coordinate husbandry and welfare programmes
- Maintain accurate farm, livestock and compliance records
- Support and supervise learners during practical farm based activities
- Promote a safe, engaging and positive learning environment
- Work closely with the education team to support vocational and wellbeing programmes

The Company:
Our client is a specialist post 16 education provider dedicated to helping young people develop confidence, independence, employability skills and positive outcomes through practical learning and personalised support. The Candidate:
- Practical experience managing a farm, smallholding, educational farm, equestrian facility, animal centre or similar land based operation
- Strong animal husbandry skills with experience working across multiple animal species
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Proactive, hands on approach with the ability to work independently
- Qualification in Agriculture, Animal Management, Equine Studies, Land Based Studies or a related discipline
- Experience working with young people, education settings, wellbeing programmes, SEND learners or vocational training environments is advantageous but not essential
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare and husbandry
- Experience managing farm operations and facilities
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Practical maintenance and site management skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with horses, alpacas, goats, or similar livestock would be beneficial
