Business Background:

We are a family run, mixed farming business comprising a 650 arable acreage, modern broiler operation, biomass plant making use of the poultry litter, beef and sheep enterprises plus commercial offices and industrial units. We combine the traditional values of mutual respect, personal responsibility and reward for effort and experience with the use of up to date technology and practices.

A full job description is available on request. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to progress to Assistant Farm Manager.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a strong, enthusiastic team member and experienced farm worker who will collaborate with the Farm Manager in:

- The care and management of livestock (cattle, sheep and poultry). This includes providing cover on the broiler unit as necessary

- Crop management including all activities within the agricultural cycle

- Adhering to Health and Safety requirements, ensuring that all activities on the farm can be carried out safely

- Assisting with the biomass

- The management and maintenance of property and equipment

- Environmental management

- Other ad hoc activities

Personal Characteristics and Attributes

The job requires physical and mental fitness with a practical, forward thinking and problem-solving approach. Reliability, a willingness to carry out routine tasks, flexibility in meeting day to day challenges and enthusiasm to learn new skills are necessary characteristics.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Proven track record of working in agriculture (essential)

· GCSEs in Maths & English (preferred)

· Current First Aid training (preferred)

· Clean full UK driver’s licence plus licences for tractor driving, telescopic handler (essential)

· PA1 and PA2 (preferred)

The job is available immediately and is suitable for people currently living in the UK.
