About the

First of all, its best I introduce myself (person behind the keyboard here), it’s not the norm on a job role spec, but I feel it’s important to know one of the people you’ll be working with. I’m Darren, the Head of Buying. You’ll be working closely with me to forecast and plan with our fantastic suppliers, and the wider DFYNE team.

I’ll be straight up. Being part of DFYNE is challenging, tough, and most likely not like anything you’ve experienced. If you aren’t ready to push yourself, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then stop reading now. This isn’t the place for you.

One of the challenges you’ll face is our exciting and rapid growth, which means our data is often out of date as soon as we have it, so although there’ll be patterns, there won’t be definitive data to base decisions on. You’ll need to be excellent at forward planning and anticipating customer demand, to help keep our warehouse stocked so our fabulous customers aren’t left waiting for their items.

What I’m looking for is someone who’s brilliant with numbers, has a background in merchandising/buying, and most importantly, someone who is ready to grab a career opportunity with both hands and hold on for dear life as DFYNE grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting product requirements in line with a stringent critical path.

  • Predict and respond at pace to changes in customer demand.

  • Creating required purchase orders for product at pace.

  • Collaborate with wider DFYNE team.

  • Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers.

  • Coach and develop junior members of the buying team (where applicable)

Experience Needed:

  • Absolutely none. We don’t hire only on experience, but a background in Buying is desirable.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills.

  • Organisational skills.

  • Ability & willingness to learn.

  • High level analytics and numeracy skills.

  • Commercial awareness.
