This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled ophthalmologist to join a dedicated and forward-thinking team within a modern, well-equipped hospital committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
This role offers the flexibility of non-resident on-call duties and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing clinical research and teaching. It is ideal for a consultant seeking both career advancement and the chance to shape the future of ophthalmic services.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive and negotiable salary based on experience
- Relocation package of up to £20,000 (subject to eligibility)
- Support for continuous professional development and subspecialty interests
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (FRCOphth)
- Independent clinical experience in Ophthalmology at Consultant level
- Ability to undertake 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) with 2 additional PAs
- Willingness to participate in an optional 1:14 non-resident on-call rota
Desirable Criteria:
- Post-CCT Fellowship in a relevant subspecialty
- Experience supervising Specialist Registrars (SpRs) and undergraduate students
- Involvement in clinical trials and research supervision
- Evidence of academic contributions or published research
Working Pattern / On-Call:
- 10 + 2 PAs per week
- Optional non-resident on-call: 1 in 14
Application Requirements:
- CV must demonstrate appropriate Consultant-level competencies in Ophthalmology
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a Technical Specification Panel (virtual) and an Advisory Appointment Committee (in-person)
