Founded in 1969, IAE are the UK’s largest and leading manufacturer of livestock housing and handling equipment, equestrian stabling, industrial fencing and shelters. The company remains to be owned by the same family who set it up in 1969, and now employs over 450 people, which we are committed to investing in. IAE is based on a purpose built, 38-acre site which is situated on the edge of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire.

The state-of-the-art production facility features an extensive range of automated processes, ranging from robotic welding technology to automated material handling and includes our own in-house galvanising facility. Our ability to design, manufacture, assemble and distribute from this unique operation allows us to offer our customers a complete range of high quality, unrivalled products like no other.

The Role

As a Buyer at IAE, you will play a crucial role in managing supplier relationships and ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods and services. Your efforts will directly contribute to the efficiency and success of our purchasing team and broader business operations. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring materials are ordered and delivered promptly and at the best possible value, supporting the seamless flow of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Purchase of goods, materials, components or services to suit the company’s needs.
  • Ensure a professional and consistent approach is taken with all supplier relationships.
  • Inform other departments of all relevant information regarding changes in materials, price movements, delivery lead times and supply chain risks.
  • Arranging deliveries/collections as required
  • Research & identify new suppliers when requested and run cost comparison exercises.
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.
  • Providing materials and equipment prices to Project & Sales Teams
  • Following up with suppliers concerning order status and to communicate delivery information with all departments.
  • Evaluating supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
  • Contribute to data housekeeping. Ensuring stock levels, eco-nomic re-order levels etc are monitored and adjusted when required.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, both existing and new.
  • Participate in supplier meetings and reviews.
  • To undertake any other duties as necessary within the Procurement Department

The successful candidate will need to have the following skills:

Essential:

  • Enthusiastic, hardworking & conscientious with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent internal and external communications skills – must be able to communicate clearly, concisely and openly.
  • Highly driven with regards to securing material availability and sustaining the production schedule.
  • Computer & Systems literacy (knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
  • A well organised team player with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, problem solver.
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure.
  • You’ll be process oriented, collaborative and have high integrity.
  • Honest and trustworthy

Desired:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment with a strong working knowledge of standard processes and procedures.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstratable experience driving performance improvement within the supply chain.
  • Demonstratable experience working with suppliers on quality issues.
  • CIPS level 4.
  • Some familiarity of steel/metalwork or fabrications.
  • Some understanding of MRP systems, particularly purchasing and inventory functionality.

For the right candidate, additional training and qualifications may be offered as part of the role to ensure the candidate has the required skills to excel in this role.

The above positions will be rewarded with a permanent contract, progressive rates of pay, 32 days paid holidays per year plus loyalty days (up to 34 days), auto enrolment into our pension scheme which includes 5% employer contributions and employee life insurance.

Working 39 hours, Monday to Friday.
