Service Engineer- Scotland
James Jones & Sons Ltd is a 5th generation family business and one of the UK’s largest and most progressive timber processing companies with core activities in timber harvesting, sawmilling and distribution. We employ more than 2,100 people based at our 26 sites throughout the UK, 21 sites in Australia and 2 locations in New Zealand. In the UK, we operate 8 saw-lines, an engineered wood manufacturing plant, 14 pallet and packaging operations and a saw blade manufacturing and saw servicing operation. We produce high quality, British grown timber for the UK construction, fencing, landscaping, pallet & packaging and agricultural sectors; market-leading JJI-Joists for the housebuilding and construction markets and pallets and packaging for blue chip domestic and exporting businesses.
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team. This will be based in our Grangemouth or Livingstone site.
Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of our material handling equipment, trailers & other plant vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime to allow the sites to operate efficiently. You will undertake the servicing and breakdowns of our fleet. The role will cover two sites but will grow as the role progresses. Due to the geographical position of the sites, overnight stays will sometimes be required. Overtime will be paid after 40 hours @ 1.3 rate weekday and 1.5 rate Saturday.
Responsibilities:
- To service, maintain and repair counterbalance forklift trucks, trailers and other material handling equipment.
- To maintain spare stock, company tools and other company property, keeping them in good clean order.
- To correctly complete job reports and other relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
- To order parts and consumables and keep track of all orders.
- To always follow all safety procedures and site rules.
- To always promote a good company image.
This list is not exhaustive. All employees are expected to undertake all reasonable requests necessary for the successful completion of their duties.
Knowledge, skills and experience. You should be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- Full clean driver’s licence.
- Competent with all types of internal combustion engines.
- Background in field servicing, ideally Forklift trucks, although other related industries will be considered.
- Good electrical knowledge.
- Good practical understanding of H & S.
- In date counterbalance licence.
Must have the right to work in the Uk without the need for sponsorship.
Desirable
- Computer literate (experience of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Experience in mig, tig and stick welding.
