Wood Machinist

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to learn to operate a wide range of machines, to be flexible in working in the workshop. This will include working in our sawmill area on fresh sawn oak work.

Experience of wood machining is a definite benefit, and knowledge of timber an advantage. A flexible attitude is important as the successful person will be required to work with a variety of different machines. The job description below gives a good detail.

Principle Job summary

To cut, set and machine a range of different timbers of various machines as each customer order requires.

Responsibilities

Operate various machines in a safe manner, including:

• 7 headed moulder
• 4 sided planer
• Profile moulder
• Spindle moulder
• Multirip saw
• Crosscut saw
• Bandsaw
• Ripsaw

• Hand power tools

• To Set machines as required
• To learn the skills of profile grinding and setting cutter blocks for machining
• Sharpen cutters after use
• To ensure machines are cleaned and maintained as required.
• To use hand tools in a safe manner
• To use forklifts as required in a safe manner
• To follow and complete to a high standard, customer orders as received in a timely manner.
• To observe Health and Safety rules and be observant of possible hazards in the work place
• To ensure the workplace is kept clean and tidy
• To work as a team member
• Work with the Workshop manager and directors to continually improve our customer service and workshop procedures to the highest level.
• The candidate may not have all the above skills, but for the right person we will train to achieve the best standards possible, we are looking for a long term relationship going forward.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £24,500.00-£30,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Machinist: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Driving Licence (preferred)
