Full job description

ESTATE WORKER

Location: Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with additional seasonal hours and an alternate-weekend on-call rota
Salary: Competitive, dependent on skills and experience
Contract: Permanent

Revesby Estate is looking for an experienced, practical and reliable Estate Worker to join its small estate team.

Revesby Estate is a family-owned historic estate in the heart of Lincolnshire. Its diverse rural enterprises include agriculture, property, livery and the production and delivery of firewood.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the estate. Duties and priorities will change according to the seasons, weather conditions and operational needs, so flexibility and a willingness to work across different areas of the estate are essential.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining grazing paddocks, fencing, livery facilities, yards and surrounding areas
  • Acting as the first point of contact for maintenance issues
  • Grass cutting, mowing, vegetation control and spraying
  • Undertaking general estate maintenance, repairs and practical tasks
  • Identifying and reporting defects, hazards and maintenance requirements
  • Assisting with the clearance of fallen trees
  • Supporting farming activities and other seasonal work
  • Acting as a primary grain cart operator during harvest
  • Processing, preparing, loading and delivering logs
  • Operating estate vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment safely
  • Keeping work areas clean, safe, tidy and well organised
  • Dealing professionally with tenants, customers, contractors and members of the public

About you

You will need:

  • Previous experience in an estate, agricultural, grounds maintenance, forestry, livery or similar practical role
  • A practical, hands-on approach and strong work ethic
  • The ability to work independently, use your initiative and contribute positively to a small team
  • A reliable and responsible approach to your work
  • A willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions
  • A good understanding of health and safety when using machinery, vehicles and equipment
  • Good communication skills and a polite, professional manner
  • A full UK driving licence

A telehandler qualification and experience operating tractors, trailers, mowing equipment or log-processing machinery would be an advantage. PA1/PA6 spraying qualifications, chainsaw certification and basic maintenance, fencing or machinery-care skills would also be beneficial. Training may be available for the right person.

Working arrangements

Standard hours are 40 per week. However, substantial additional and varied hours will be required during busy seasonal periods, particularly harvest. Harvest hours are dependent on the weather and crop and may include evenings, nights and weekends over an extended period.

The successful applicant will also participate in an alternate-weekend on-call rota. Call-outs are not frequent, but you must be available and able to respond when reasonably required.

This is a physically active role involving outdoor work, manual handling, driving and the use of machinery and equipment.

What we offer

  • A permanent, full-time position
  • Varied and interesting work across a historic rural estate
  • Competitive pay based on skills and experience
  • A supportive working environment as part of a small estate team
  • Appropriate training relating to the role and equipment

To apply, please submit your CV together with a brief covering note explaining your relevant experience and interest in the position.

Any appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks and evidence of the right to work in the UK.
