The Role

This role is centred around the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repair and installation of commercial coffee roasting equipment at customer sites across the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You'll carry out planned preventative maintenance, diagnose electrical, mechanical and gas-related faults, respond to customer breakdowns, and assist with new equipment installations and commissioning. You'll work directly with customers, ensuring their equipment remains safe, compliant and operating at peak performance. Occasionally, you'll also support the installation and commissioning of our own coffee processing equipment, including operator training and customer handover. Some of these projects may involve international travel. As the business develops, there will also be opportunities to become involved in new engineering projects, products and other ventures, allowing the role to evolve alongside the company. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, interacting directly with customers, and travelling regularly throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

  • Install, commission and relocate coffee roasting equipment
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and gas-related faults
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections
  • Configure and commission burners, combustion systems and gas equipment
  • Inspect, dismantle, clean and rebuild mechanical assemblies
  • Test electrical systems, control panels and safety circuits
  • Produce accurate service reports, photographs and recommendations
  • Respond to customer breakdowns and emergency call-outs
  • Occasionally install and commission our own branded coffee processing equipment in the UK and overseas
  • Attending exhibitions and shows
  • Deliver customer training and equipment handovers following installations
  • Provide technical support and maintain excellent customer relationships
  • Support wider engineering projects and new business ventures as the company grows

Essential Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience
  • Current Gas Safe qualifications, or previous Gas Safe registration with the willingness to regain certification (company-funded refresher training provided)
  • Experience servicing industrial, commercial or manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to diagnose faults independently and work methodically
  • Experience working with motors, fans, burners, drives, sensors and industrial control systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, including overnight stays when required

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with commercial gas appliances and combustion systems
  • Previous field service engineering experience
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • PLC or industrial control system experience
  • Experience commissioning industrial machinery
  • Experience delivering customer training
  • Experience within the coffee, food production, manufacturing or process industries

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Ongoing technical training and professional development
  • Specialist training on coffee roasting equipment and our own product range
  • Genuine responsibility and autonomy
  • Opportunity to work within the speciality coffee industry
  • Long-term career development within a growing engineering business

While previous experience working on coffee roasting equipment would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are happy to provide specialist product training to the right candidate with a strong engineering background and the willingness to learn.

Travel

The role involves regular travel throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Service tours often cover specific regions and may require staying away from home for up to five days at a time. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake occasional international travel to support the installation and commissioning of our own coffee processing equipment. These trips are infrequent but offer the chance to work with customers around the world as our business continues to expand.

About You

You're a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You're comfortable working independently, enjoy dealing directly with customers, and can confidently diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and gas-related faults.

This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys field engineering. Whether it's carrying out a routine service, diagnosing a complex fault or installing a new roaster, you take satisfaction in doing the job properly and leaving every customer confident they've received first-class service. More importantly, we're not looking for someone who simply wants their next job we're looking for someone who wants to build a career. We want someone who sees themselves being part of our team for many years to come. In return, we'll invest in you, support your development, trust you to do your job properly and make sure you're looked after.

For the right person, there will also be the opportunity to participate in an employee share option scheme. We believe that the people who help build the business should have the chance to share in its success. If you're ambitious, enjoy variety, and want to be part of building something genuinely exciting within the speciality coffee industry, we'd love to hear from you.
