About the Role
Sustainable Film provides intelligent, tailored sustainability strategies to film and TV productions. With over three decades of combined film production experience and qualified sustainability consultancy expertise, our team understands the world of production and the real demands placed on crew.
In this role, you will collaborate with key teams, including locations, unit, and electrical departments to assess power needs, develop efficient energy plans and implement alternative power sources. You’ll also stay up to date with the latest technology, manage our Sustainable Power database, and build relationships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Project management
- Oversee sustainability initiatives across multiple film and TV productions simultaneously.
- Manage production timelines and ensure sustainability deliverables are met on schedule.
- Manage team member hours and allocate resources efficiently across projects.
- Oversee project progression and submissions/updates from Coordinators.
Team coordination
- Manage the sustainability coordinators day to day, maintaining regular contact and holding them accountable for delivering on time and to the required standard.
- Filter and prioritise issues, escalating complex matters to company Directors when necessary.
- Manage production workflow throughout the team
- When escalating, brief our Consultants and Specialists fully so they can step in with the context they need.
- Act as an experienced advisor and second opinion for the team, stepping in to lead or make sense of things when guidance is unclear.
- Run regular, focused forecasting check-ins that keep work on track.
- Own and continually improve the hiring process for production-specific sustainability staff.
- Manage a structured onboarding process for every new starter.
Quality assurance
- Ensure proper implementation and usage of sustainability templates and tools.
- Verify adherence to brand guidelines across all sustainability communications.
- Apply proportionate, risk-based quality checks on reporting and documentation.
- Maintain best practice across all productions.
Communication & reporting
- Develop and maintain reporting structures for tracking sustainability metrics.
- Oversee regular progress reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing between productions to leverage successful strategies.
- Represent the sustainability team in production meetings when required.
- Own the company data tracking systems, keeping data consistent and high-quality across all projects.
- Maintain internal company stats and trackers.
Process improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline sustainability workflows, embracing new tools and technology to improve efficiency.
- Update templates and guidelines based on production feedback and industry developments.
- Document lessons learned and incorporate them into future production planning.
- Oversee research of emerging sustainability practices in film and TV production.
- Develop new sustainability strategies and fresh approaches to how we work across productions.
What We’re Looking For
This is a hands-on role, so first-hand experience of production matters as much as project management skill.
- Proven experience working directly on film and TV productions, with a solid understanding of production processes, timelines and the practical needs of crew.
- Highly efficient, with the ability to manage multiple productions and people at once without dropping the detail.
- Genuinely embraces new technology and digital tools and is quick to spot where they can streamline workflows and reporting.
- A proactive problem-solver, able to anticipate issues before they arise.
- Adaptable and resilient when facing production challenges.
- Diplomatic when navigating competing priorities.
- Passionate about sustainability and environmentally responsible practice.
- Comfortable operating with a good degree of autonomy and making decisions with authority, drawing on our Consultants and Specialists only when their input is genuinely needed.
- Experienced in managing a team and getting the best from people — comfortable holding others to account as well as supporting them.
- A positive, motivating presence who brings energy and keeps the team engaged.
- A collaborative team player who fits our ethos of action over judgement and collaboration over criticism.
Why Join Us?
We are committed to making film and TV production more sustainable. In addition to working on exciting projects, you’ll benefit from:
Generous holiday allowance – 33 days (including bank holidays), increasing to 36 days after 1 year of service.
Accredited Living Wage UK employer.
Work-life balance support – Wellbeing sessions for mental health.
Company pension scheme.
Biannual company socials – A chance to connect with the team outside of work.
Free flu jabs & on-site parking.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single qualification. Passion, willingness to learn, and a fresh perspective can be just as valuable as direct experience!
