Full job description

Finance Manager / Management Accountant (full time or part time - 4 days per week) | Matlock Region (predominantly home based with perhaps 1 day per week in the office) | £50,000

The Opportunity

This is a wonderful business – a values-led charity approaching £5m turnover. They have a hugely collaborative and talented leadership team, welcoming people who will be excellent to work with / for.

The role offers unrivalled work life balance. You are predominantly home based (you need to be comfortable working with autonomy and that level of freedom). It is full time or possibly 4 days per week for the right person.

You will be the main finance person for the organisation responsible for all aspects of daily, weekly and monthly reporting / financial management. You’ll produce detailed management accounts for board review and be the primary finance contact for audits / year end submissions.

The role would be ideal for someone who wants to work in a not-for-profit setting where there is real focus on adding value and making a true difference. Someone who understands the need for robust financial control and reporting around income streams / funding / grants and the associated management & allocation of costs.

This role will give someone a high degree of return – you can make an impact, be a partner to the SLT and Chief exec, be hands on and enjoy variety and also have a refreshing degree of freedom to make the role fit around your life / other commitments / family etc.

It’s well-ran, highly organised, modern-thinking and growing. A forward-looking charity with aspiration and a very capable but approachable exec board.

Mega role for a finance professional looking to join an SME in a hands on remit.

Required:

  • Ability to manage your own timetable of tasks and deadlines – there is zero micro management in this role.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees across then business mainly through calls and Teams meetings plus monthly board meetings face to face (in Derbyshire).
  • A professional accounting qualification (AAT as a minimum).
  • Excellent core accounting skills and ability to deliver credible and timely management accounts (P&L / balance sheet).
  • Understanding of a charity setting ideally.
  • Confidence in your ability to undertake a varied role in an SME (managing 1 finance officer who looks after transactional work / data input).

Roles with this level of home working are increasingly rare. Please get in touch immediately if you would like to be considered.
