Job Description: Court of Protection Solicitor

Salary: Up to £50,000 + Bonus

Location: Liverpool - Hybrid Working & Flexible Hours

Position Type: Full-time/Part-time

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Court of Protection Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience to join a respected legal practice in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic team, providing high-quality legal services to vulnerable clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of Court of Protection matters, including dealing with matters relating to mental capacity, deputyship applications, and the management of financial affairs for individuals who lack capacity.
  • Advise clients, their families, and other stakeholders on the legal aspects of managing personal welfare, financial matters, and property-related issues.
  • Draft and submit Court of Protection applications, including applications for deputyship orders, statutory wills, and gift applications.
  • Represent clients in hearings, liaising directly with the Court, social services, and other involved parties.
  • Provide clear and practical legal advice to clients, ensuring their best interests are at the forefront of all decisions and actions.
  • Work closely with other professionals, including financial advisers, care providers, and health professionals, to ensure the appropriate management of client affairs.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of Personal Welfare and Property & Affairs deputyships, including ongoing reporting and compliance with the Court's requirements.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Court of Protection law and related areas, ensuring compliance with current legislation and regulations.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in Court of Protection law or a related area
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection rules, and relevant case law.
  • Experience managing a caseload involving deputyship applications, statutory wills, and related legal proceedings.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to empathise with vulnerable clients while providing clear and concise legal advice.
  • A strong commitment to delivering client-focused legal services, ensuring the best interests of clients are met.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working within a team, collaborating with colleagues and external professionals to provide holistic support for clients.
