West Riding FA - Finance Director (INED)
Job details
Full job description
West Riding FA has undergone significant change in recent years. We have strengthened our governance framework, modernised our Board structure and continued to invest in the capability, culture and leadership required of a progressive governing body.
As we look ahead, our focus is increasingly on long term sustainability, organisational resilience and ensuring that every decision we make delivers the greatest possible value to grassroots football.
The appointment of a Finance Director comes at an important stage in our development. The introduction of The FA Financial Standard, alongside our wider ambitions for growth and continuous improvement, creates an opportunity for an experienced financial leader to help shape the organisation's future direction, strengthen financial governance and support informed investment decisions.
This is more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to influence how one of the largest County Football Associations in England plans for the future, manages its resources and maximises its impact across the communities it serves.
FINANCE DIRECTOR (INDEPENDENT NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR)
The Finance Director plays an important role in helping the Board understand the Association's financial position, future risks and opportunities, and the decisions required to support long term resilience.
Working alongside the Chair, Chief Executive Officer, Finance Committee and the Association's appointed Accountant, you will provide oversight of financial performance and support the Board in making informed decisions regarding sustainability, investment and resource allocation.
As Chair of the Finance Committee, you will lead discussions relating to financial performance, forecasting, reserves management, risk and compliance. You will also help ensure that the financial information presented to the Board is clear, robust and supports effective decision making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Chair the Finance Committee and report key matters to the Board.
- Review budgets, management accounts and financial performance.
- Support long term financial planning and forecasting.
- Provide oversight of financial controls and assurance arrangements.
- Monitor financial risks and opportunities.
- Support the Board's approach to reserves management and financial sustainability.
- Contribute to discussions regarding investments and the effective use of organisational resources.
- Work with the Association's appointed Accountant on statutory reporting and compliance matters.
- Support implementation and ongoing compliance with The FA Financial Standard.
We are seeking an individual with strong financial expertise who is able to analyse information, ask insightful questions and contribute to strategic discussions. The successful candidate will help the Board maintain strong financial governance while supporting the organisation's ambitions for the future.
