Job Title: Employee Benefits Adviser

Location: Grimsby or Beverley

Basic Salary: Up to £85,000

Hours: Mon - Fri, Flexible Working Hours

About our client and the role:

Swarm Recruitment are delighted to be working with one of the region’s leading independent financial planning firms, with a heritage dating back to 1935 and offices across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. The business provides genuinely independent, client-focused financial planning and wealth management, supporting individuals, business owners, trustees and employers with bespoke advice.

The firm has built a strong reputation for quality and service, with a team of experienced advisers, Chartered financial planners and dedicated technical and support professionals. Employee ownership is also central to the culture, with the business operating through an Employee Ownership Trust and placing a real emphasis on collective success, professional development and long-term progression.

This is an exciting opportunity open to experienced candidates, or those coming from a Paraplanning or Technical role within wealth management and looking to develop into the Employee Benefits area. You will take ownership of and significantly develop the growing workplace pensions and employee benefits proposition. The primary focus will be on Group Personal Pensions (GPP) and workplace pension advice, with the opportunity to proactively develop wider employee benefits solutions including Death in Service, Income Protection and Critical Illness.

The role has been created to give this area of the business a dedicated focus. You will inherit an established portfolio, but the goal and opportunity is to shape the proposition, develop relationships with existing and new corporate clients, and play a key role in growing the firm's presence in the employee benefits market. Alongside this, there will be the opportunity for expansion into private client work.

Salary and Benefits:

  • £50,000–£85,000 depending on experience
  • 30% bonus
  • £3,600 Employee Ownership Trust bonus
  • Private Medical Cover and Life Insurance
  • Pension contribution
  • Annual leave entitlement with a half day off on your birthday, two additional days at Christmas, and the option to purchase additional days off via the holiday purchase scheme
  • Corporate eyecare
  • Perkbox discounts
  • Electric car scheme

Working Hours & location:

  • Monday–Friday
  • Full flexibility
  • Office-based for the initial settling-in period, with hybrid working thereafter and one day in the office
  • The role can be based in Grimsby or Beverley

Role Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of and grow the firm's GPP and workplace pensions proposition.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with employers, business owners and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct workplace pension reviews and provide clear, suitable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to develop wider employee benefits, including Death in Service, Income Protection and Critical Illness.
  • Develop new business opportunities across the existing client bank and contribute to new client acquisition.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations and reviews, building trusted adviser relationships.
  • Work closely with the firm's technical, paraplanning and administration teams to deliver high-quality advice and service.
  • Keep up to date with relevant pension, employee benefits and regulatory developments.
  • For technically strong Paraplanners/candidates, take the opportunity to develop your client-facing skills and progress into a full Employee Benefits advisory role.

Experience:

  • Experience within employee benefits, workplace pensions, financial planning or a closely related role.
  • Strong knowledge of Group Personal Pensions (GPPs) and workplace pension arrangements.
  • Experience of working with clients (ideally corporate) and building strong, trusted relationships.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and employees.
  • Experience conducting or supporting pension reviews, researching solutions and preparing recommendations.
  • A good understanding of wider employee benefits, ideally including Death in Service, Income Protection and Critical Illness.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new business.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ideally CII Diploma qualified, or working towards this, although relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within Employee Benefits, pensions and wider financial planning.

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (CII, CISI, or equivalent)

Additional:

  • Applications are welcomed from experienced Employee Benefits Advisers, as well as technically strong Paraplanners/candidates who are ready to take the next step into an Employee Benefits Advisory position.

By applying for this position, you agree for your data to be stored by Swarm Recruitment until notice is given by you for it to be removed. Your data will only be used for the purposes intended. Our Data Protection Policy will be forwarded to you if requested.
